As mentioned in the introduction of this paper, Labour MP Dennis Skinner is no stranger to unparliamentary behaviour. He has more than once been suspended from Parliament because of his sarcastic wit, making him the perfect subject for a case study on unparliamentary language. I will briefly mention a few quotes of his and describe the reactions his behaviour has received in the media and among the people. Given the unreliability of the data on which my analysis is based (comments from people on various British websites), the conclusion to be drawn from this analysis is only suggestive of a tendency, and should not be taken at face value.
Dennis Skinner is certainly not the first nor the last to spark agitation at the parliament for being offensive. Besides, several examples of MPs crossing the line of unparliamentary language show there is no distinction between parties regarding the use of abusive language.
