PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS SERIES
(PERCY JACKSON & THE LIGHTING THIEF; PERCY JACKSON & SEA OF MONSTERS) Percy Jackson & the Olympians series has been the best-selling series ever since it was published. I started reading its novel after watching its first movie, the PERCY JACKSON & THE LIGHTNING THIEF and was really fascinated by it. Growing up in a step family, Percy Jackson, real name Perseus Jackson, was found out to be a demigod at the age of twelve. It was also in that year when Percy first discovered who his real father is – Poseidon, god of the sea, earth shaker, storm bringer and father of horses. Before that, since he had never seen his real father, he had always assumed him dead. Percy lived with his mother Sally Jackson and his terrible stepdad Gabe Ugliano before he entered Camp Half-Blood. Before Percy realized his true identity as a son of Poseidon, his powerful demigod aura had already attracted various monsters, including a Fury. Bad things happened to him on almost every field trip. The worst one took place in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, New York. During this sixth-grade field trip, Jackson’s math teacher, Mrs. Dodds, revealed her true form as a Kindly One, and Percy vaporized her with a ballpoint pen, (which is a bronze sword called Riptide) from Mr. Brunner (Chiron). In terms of mythologist, Joseph Campbell’s A Hero with a Thousand Faces, the adventure of a hero can be generalized and demarcated into three gradations—departure, initiation, and return. After the field trip to the museum, the strange weather continued, and from there, his quest started. This stage is called The Call to Adventure, under Departure. Percy described the changes he had: “I started feeling cranky and irritable most of the time. My grades slipped from Ds to Fs. … I was sent out into the hallway in almost every class.” And much more, he and started to nose out his irregular relationship

In the academic study of Native American spiritualties, the scholar often provides the lens through which one examines various worldviews. This lens can influence a reader’s interpretation of spiritual practices, creating a biased body of knowledge. Often, mass generalizations are then made about diverse groups of indigenous people. Whether the nature of these generalizations is positive or negative, they distort the image of the group being studied based upon the author’s approach or motives.…

Hades was the one who took the lightning bolt from poseidon and stirred all this mess. Lastly the Sacred Marriage comes into play. Even Though scared marriage can be a literal marriage, for Percy, it's not. As the story goes along Percy grows a strong emotional bond with his friend Annabelle. In “The Loss of the Creature,” Percy focuses on how one perceives something before actually witnessing it based on the opinions of others. The value of the place or idea is already preconceived due to the fact that we are so caught up in time that we overlook the entire experience as a whole. Or being that we are so focused on the option on an object from someone else, we miss the whole concept or what it’s true meaning or “beauty” as Percy state’s is. We lose the ability to make our own decisions because we base them off of someone else’s viewpoints. Using an example of a movie that I experienced shows Percy’s point.…

The series is set in a world where the ancient Greek myths actually happened. The story is told from the perspective of teenagers who are the offspring of a mortal and a god. These gods find it difficult to stay on Earth and raise their children, so they typically leave shortly after having children. Percy, the protagonist, is one of these children. He had a fairly rough time with school, but he got by without any harm coming to him or those he loved. Percy’s father does eventually reach out to him and his father explains why he couldn’t be there when Percy was growing up. Percy understands why his father did what he did and Percy moves on. Luke, one of the main antagonists, is also a demigod. Luke had an extremely rough childhood; he was forced to run away from home before he was even a teenager. He and the friends that he made on his journey to safety suffered greatly. By the time that Luke and his friends make it to safety, one member of their group is turned into a tree because of a feud among the gods. During all the events that took place, Luke prayed to his father for help. Luke never got an answer. He grew to resent his father for not helping him when he needed it most. As Luke met other demigods with different godly parents, he realized that many demigods had similar childhoods. His resentment grew beyond his father; Luke developed a hatred for all the gods and their…
