Perfect Pumpkin Picking
Fall, for some is the beginning of the most tradition rich parts of the year, and for me is the best time. I love the chill in the air, all the vibrant colors, the smells, delicious foods, football, fun and spooky decorations, haunted houses, corn mazes and pumpkin patches! Every year we take our kids to Powell pumpkin patch to take pictures, walk the trails, ride the hay ride, race through the corn maze, and pick out pumpkins to take home and decorate.
Here are some “perfect pumpkin picking” tips:
• A stem that is at least 1 to 2 inches long (pumpkins without stems do not last as long) plus how would you yank its top off.
• If you are wanting it to sit up straight make sure the bottom is flat
• No preexisting holes, cuts, or soft spots.

September 22 marked the first day of the season of pumpkin spice, commonly known as fall. To many white girls around the country, this is the best time of year, because during this time, society has once again deemed sweaters, pumpkin spice beverages, and unnecessary photos and decorations socially acceptable. Personally, although I do enjoy wearing cozy sweaters, the other common “joys” of fall disgust me. Basically, I find New England’s reaction to fall quite Katastrophic.…

    Pumpkin Patch

It’s a warm evening in late October, and all but one has prepared for the great celebration. Today is the day I’m taking my daughter to the biggest pumpkin patch in all of San Diego. It has all kinds of great things for kids to do. Slides, mazes, and all other kinds of fun stuff will be waiting for my sweet little Evie and she’ll be thrilled when we bring back a great big orange pumpkin that she gets to carve into whatever she likes. She gets a kick out of all the little things which makes me flashback to my childhood whenever I take a glance at her. It feels like just a minute ago where I was six years old going to my first pumpkin patch that I could remember ever so detailed . Particularly I remember this specific day where my mom and I were driving to the pumpkin patch right across the street from my first house in California.…

Throughout the ages, it has been believed that fate has the power to forge one’s destiny. By some uncontrollable force, the outcome of a person’s choices is controlled by the way in which they are destined to occur. On the other hand though, some believe these choices can defy fate and that fate only manipulates one's mind into choosing their own path. One question that seemed to pop into my head through out this play was whether individuals were victims of fate or their I own choices, or if each aspect plays a significant part in determining their destiny. In the play Macbeth, William Shakespeare plays around with the idea of fate, placing the destiny of Macbeth before him, yet allowing his own ambitions and desires to drive him insane in order to achieve it. However, at the beginning of the play, Macbeth is portrayed as a good man. Yet he decides to commit, not one or to two, but a series of bad actions that only he had the power to control.…

All of the seasons are great. Winter is really fun with Christmas and the snow. Fall is also great because of the leafs and football games. But I would have to say that my favorite season of all is summer. Summer is the best, it is baseball season I love to play baseball I have been playing baseball ever since I was a kid. Baseball is the my second favorite sport (First is football). Baseball is you just play the game and have fun. Even if you are losing it is still great to be out on a baseball field having fun with your friends. For example this year my freshman baseball was pretty good but not the best. There were some games we won and some games we lost. It's always fun to win. But even when you do lose you still have a great time out on a baseball field with your team.…

I love fall. I can imagine the sounds of leaves crunching underneath my boots, the smells of food being taken out on Thanksgiving, the tastes of a nice cup of apple cider, the sights of spooky decorations and bright pumpkins on houses, and the feeling of crisp autumn air blowing across my face. I love to watch the leaves turn red, orange, and yellow and flutter down to the fresh green grass, like warm colors of paint covering a bright green canvas. I always look forward to fall weather, and I also always look forward to the beautiful fall scenery. Because of the nice fall weather, I get to take more walks in my neighborhood and I also get to say hi to my neighbors. Even if my birthday is in the spring, I still love fall the most. Thinking…

The connect event that I attended was not hosted by ACH but by Global Studies (GLS). This event was called Pumpkin Decorating and fittingly was on Monday, October 31 which was Halloween. I wanted to go to this event because it sounded really fun and if I have to do this required assignment I might as well go to something fun and then it will be easier to write about. This event as the event name suggests involves decorating pumpkins. I never decorated or carved a pumpkin before because my family does not do that. When I saw this event I thought, ‘This is my chance to something I always wanted to do but never had the opportunity to do so. The event was everything I expected to be and more: it was fun, exciting and met a lot of new people. This…

As I sat on my steps in front of my house, I could not help but feel somewhat depressed that fall was is here and my summer was over. It felt like fall because the weird smell of rain was in the air and I noticed the leafs were changing colors and dying and falling off the trees. Most of them were landing on my car, which I now have to wash. While I sat there on the cold cement, I was reminded of how much I missed being a kid as I saw some kids passing by chasing each other on their bikes. I could hear many noises that were going on around me. I could hear the loud banging of a hammer from my neighbors putting up their siding on their house. I also heard the annoying sound of dogs barking along with the loud noise from my other neighbor who was mowing his half-dead lawn that was partly dead from the high temperatures and lack of rain that we did not get during the summer. Along with all of those noises, I could…
