Do you like great short stories? Well “the Birthmark” is a great one for you, this story is about the strive for perfection. Even though it is foolish to strive for perfection, it is foolish because there is always a consequence. A price to be paid for perfection, and in this story the ultimate price was paid for perfection. In this story a beautiful, young women paid the price of her life. She paid this price for perfection, to put her husband to peace. Her name was georgiana, she was basically perfect in all aspects of life. It was only the birthmark that showed imperfection, ONLY the birthmark. Her husband’s name was aylmer, he was a respected scientist but also a perfectionist. The sad part about this marriage isn’t the price to be paid,
it is that he was more in love with science. Being this statement the only way he could love her is to, “intertwine her with science.”
