It is important to note that in a time of budget cuts and manpower reduction, balancing readiness and modernization will continue to be an issue across the entire Department of Defense. Nevertheless, the Army will need to continue to scale its forces into scalable, well-equipped, and highly trained force in order to maintain readiness in an unpredictable world where modernization is absolutely necessary for the Nation to address future global trends. Additionally, it is crucial that the Army continues to conduct rigorous and practical training at home stations at multi-echelon levels and leverage modern technologies such as virtual and simulation capabilities. Finally, the Army needs to capitalize more on the skills and knowledge of the Army National Guard and Army Reserve as well as having the right mix of capabilities in order to establish and maintain a globally responsive and regionally-engaged force.…

It's 1643 in England, and you’re a woman who longs for the opportunity to become a scientist. Not only is your husband so blessed to have a well-paying job, as you are located in the upper-middle class, but you are eager and joyful to begin learning about chemistry. There is a simple problem though, and that is that you want to be able to learn as much as you possibly can, but the only books you were allowed to buy were “Simplified for Women”. Why is that? Why don't you have the ability to be able to learn what men learn? It is quite simple, and that is because you live in the Renaissance, where men were heavily praised for their works and deemed strong and intelligent, while most of the time women were criticized and supposedly, “made to serve and obey man, not rule and command them”, (Doc 7). That is, though,…

Improvements in space assets protection and resiliency, and integration of space capabilities into Joint Force will bring better effectiveness, coordination, and protection across all domains. Making the space assets more resilient will deter adversaries from temptation to take them out, and that will benefit to the overall Joint Force operations. Contrary, perception that space assets can be easily attacked could have consequence of deterring the U.S. to entry into the conflict in the first place. Improvement on the existing capabilities to disseminate limitations and vulnerabilities of the space assets, the Air Force should prioritize its investment alternatives. Thus, the Air Force should list its space operational requirements if improvements…

I have had the opportunity to serve is various positions throughout my career. During my first deployment (2005 – 2006) I served as both a Platoon Leader and Aviation Liaison Officer to Third Army. My assignment as the Liaison Officer provided me with an up close view of how the Army operates at the operational and strategic levels. Although my role was small, I was fortunate enough to participate in several planning cells related to the 2006 Lebanon War and personally briefed the Third Army Commanding General on the potential role of Aviation if called upon. As a deployed Company Commander (2010 – 2011), I was responsible for all aviation operations in Kuwait and Southern Iraq. This deployment presented a challenge unique to Army Aviation;…
