As human beings, we all have unique characteristics and personalities that make us individuals. These characteristics and personalities influence our actions and thoughts about situations we encounter in everyday life. Whether it be a simple decision on what article of clothing to wear, or what to do if having witnessed a crime, the outcomes we chose are based upon our own personalities. All personality types have positive and negative aspects, which are specific to that personality. In the novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, Charlie is able to demonstrate the advantage of being a wallflower.…

I liked this novel very much because it shows how precious life is, and that drinking and driving is NEVER a good idea. The story makes me realize that with maturity, comes difficult choices, and you must always be wise. Things like this happen every day and people always think, “Oh it won’t happen to me,” but you never know. I would recommend this book to my friends because I think the story line would influence their choices greatly. I think it would give them a better perspective on making good…

I love the authors writing style in this book. First of all its written as a teenage girls journal so as i reader i get to know everything thats going on for her. I can almost relate because i know i would be going through a lot of the same issues as her. I also like how it dosnt focuse on a big group people so its easy to keep track of everyone and everything that is going on. In some parts it was a little unbelivable like when they went to the grocery store how could everything fit into there car with four other people in the car too. Im glad she put in the part about the stores though because it was intesersting like i could imagane all the chaos and frenzey of everyone running around trying to get what they might need and not know how long they would be in this situation.…

I enjoyed this book thoroughly and always kept me intrigued until the end. It had small twists in it that were rather easy to interpret but it was also very interesting. I like how its really intense and calming and also some parts funny. I like how it talks about teen pregnancy because some young teens will want to get pregnant at such a young age and if they read this book it may help them change their mind and wait till they get older, thats very important to me. I really like the chapter where Bobby was talking about the wall when he was trying to get everything back in place and try to see who he really was, i thought that part was really good. I like how it goes back and fourth for the chapters like then and now, it makes you want to read more because in one chapter it tells you really good information and you just want to read even more till the…

I liked how vivid the author was about the things he encountered. His inner thoughts is what also made this novel an interesting read for me because it showed readers what he was really feeling. When I read Dave’s thought and feelings about being locked in a bathroom with ammonia, it brought tears to my eyes. At first, the brutal details in this book made it hard for me to believe that any child endured such pain for so long. I couldn’t believe how long Dave was abused. I just couldn’t understand what human being does this to a child—what mother does this to a…

My book was on Candy. A young teenage girl and boy who fell in love. Which happens all the time boy meets girl they both fall for one another, but who knew it would have happen like this. Candy was a 16 year old girl who met a 15 year old boy name Joe Beck. They met at a train station in downtown London. Joe was lost in the train station when Candy got his attention. Candy was trying to ask Joe if he needed help finding his way but, Joe was so lost in her beauty he didn’t answer her he just stared. Which kind of drove Candy away. She was flattered, but didn’t want things to become more awkward. Joe had caught up to Candy at the McDonalds and bought her lunch. Candy and Joe were talking when suddenly Candy’s face went cold. The person she feared the most had just walked into McDonalds, Iggy. Iggy was Candy’s pimp. Candy was a 16 year old prostitute. Of course, Joe, didn’t know, well at least not yet. After Iggy scared the mess out of Candy and Joe, Joe left Candy and went home.…

Ralph Waldo Emerson once stated, “Between stimulus and response is our greatest power- the freedom to choose”. Often, an individual’s reaction to a situation is automatic and intuitive. The ability to chose and modify ones behavior is not a common occurrence, as humans tend to take action subconsciously. Sigmund Freud developed a theory in order to explain this phenomenon, where he divides the human mind into three parts. The id is the impulsive portion of the psyche, based solely on the pleasure precept. The ego functions on reason, and operates based upon the reality principle. Lastly, the superego incorporates and works upon the values and morals of society. Throughout Perks of Being a Wallflower, many characters can be seen conforming…
