You must persevere and never give up to get to where you want to be. Perseverance is one of those virtues that every kid is taught and I just rolls right of their back. But I really is important and essential for success. Perseverance is a recurring theme in “The Lost Boys” by Sara Corbett, “Mother to Son” by Langston Hughes, and a Nonfiction Article: “Nick Vujicic: Life without Limits”.
“The Lost Boys”, by Sara Corbett, is the first text that demonstrates perseverance. The boys were from Sudan, which was in their civil war. Adversity can bring out the positive and negative sides in a person. In “The Proof of Worth,” Edgar Albert Guest demonstrates how challenges in life can help someone understand what he or she is capable of during a hardship. Similarly, “The Importance of Adversity in Growth and Development” written by Patrick Kohan exemplifies how children will never learn how to conquer an obstacle if they are always given assistance. Furthermore, Laura Hillenbrand’s novel, Unbroken, indicates that experiencing problems can affect the way a person’s body reacts and thinks about a difficult moment. Ultimately, the authors highlight that obstacles can be a complex or helpful task, as well as benefit people in the future when they need to know their true talents.…

My dad grew up wanting to be a firefighter. Once he grew up, he decided to put that dream into action by actually becoming one. My dad had to work through the many physical and mental challenges and tests in order for him to make his dream come true. However, when he met my mom and they were instantly in love. After they got married, my mom spoke to my dad telling him that if they were going to have a family, my mom wouldn't want to have to worry about his safety, because being a firefighter is very dangerous and stressful on a family. So, my dad decided that being a dad was more important to him. Although it was still hard for him to know that his hard work to become a firefighter was all for nothing. Another example of when my dad had to persevere was when he had a seizure. My dad had 3 seizures and he told me that he felt as if he wasn't in control of his body. He said that knowing he didn’t have control was one of the scariest things he has experienced. He had to work through fears going through his head, but also physically. He had to go through many tests and recovery assignments that required him to persevere physically. Overall, my dad has worked very hard to get to where he is now and that is why he is a great example of showing what perseverance can…

The greatest lesson I have learned in my life thus far. I have found this to be true in most aspects of my life, for all of my growth and success has come as a result of determination and perseverance. No matter how desperate the situation may be, no matter how badly it seems I will succeed. While I had experience failures and hardships, this experience taught me the most valuable lessons, making me a stronger person and building the character which drives the individual I am today. I was raised in a small household and participated in many different things growing up. Since I was young, I have striven to achieve my goals; I call it a "determination to succeed." Without a "determination to succeed," giving up in life, when a situation seems impossible to overcome, becomes second nature. The methods one uses to overcome the challenges faced in life affects how one acquires success. For example, my ancestors did not overcome their struggle for equality without self-determination to better their lives. Thus, their lives have been an inspiration for me. The motivation to excel, though sometimes forgotten in my generation, is a quality that needs nourishment. My parents taught me that it takes hard work and to be successful.…

Perseverance can determine an individual’s success in overcoming a wide array of adversities. For the more successful folks, as well as for those who are more adept at maintaining focus and concentration, this wide array can be summed up into one word, adversity. If necessity is the mother of invention; consequently, adversity is the death of any who are unable to persevere. Perseverance has two definitions. It can be defined as steady persistence in a course of action; moreover, it can also be defined as a continuance in a state of grace to the end, such as obedience to God through the Decalogue. Perseverance is the noblest of necessities acquired to overcome the intricate adversities encountered in life, school and one’s career throughout.…

How perseverance is one of the most important things about surviving is it keeps you going. In the Story ¨Night by Elie Wiesel¨ it describes how Elie has to be strong with his dad knowing that his mother and sister are going to pretty much die. How this shows perseverance is when times are bad you need to work through it because it is bound to get better at any time. Another way that you need perseverance to survive is when you need to help someone like Elie did with his dad you have to help them no matter what happens. This proves that you need perseverance because when you're helping someone there's going to be someone there to try and stop you. Perseverance is also shown when Elie had to survive in the camp without his dad. This shows that when losing a loved one, you have to be strong. That's how perseverance is used in survival.…

It was a Monday morning like any other, cold, and the little light that was present squeezing its way through the sky’s grey veil. It was on these bitter twilight mornings that I apprehensively pulled my half-asleep body out from my overwhelmingly warm and comfortable bed. Leaving the house, late as per usual, I took the normal route through the park on my now daily routine journey to college. The 15-minute walk turned out to be a 10-minute walk as I was able to pick up the pace to reach the station before my train left.…
