Summary of the Film and Research
“No one knows Persian cats” is an Iran rap art firm, and this film depicts Iranian city life with a variety of music language. Meanwhile, the film also shows how two young people struggle with their dreams, even though the way to reach their ambition was really hard.
Since the Islamic revolution, the government forbade the all movies and music that inconformity to the Islamism. Hence, “No one know Persian cats” expressed the thinking of music culture. Under the advocacy of Allah’s truth and deprived of freedom of speech. Western culture was destroyed, pop music was replaced by chant, and people were living in depression. However, the cage never traps the freedom heart of bird. The young people realize that there are more beautiful and cooler music from overseas, such as rock and roll, rap and heavy metal. On the website, Government mention that “Music in Iran, therefore, continues to be closely controlled by governmental authorities, and to be subject to a very insidious form of censorship (The status of music in the Islamic republic of Iran).” Although the Iran government emphasized this censorship is ‘protect’ the purity and authenticity of the Iranian music, in my opinion, this action greatly killing people’s passion for music. There is no doubt that musicians affected more than others by music censorship. I find a journal online and gain the information that the intelligence Ministry has banned at least 26 bands in Iran, and there would have more artists affected in this case.
