My goal has been to be prepared and sometimes ahead of what’s coming, even if it has meant giving up some free time on evenings and the weekends. I have and continue to work hard to achieve my goals and take pride in my accomplishments thus far. I am never happy with something that is anything than less than my best effort. This applies across my academics and my favorite pastime of playing travel baseball.…
I have wanted to go to college since I was twelve; I believed it would be exciting to go to school as an adult. When I became a teenager I thought I had decided that I wanted to be a school teacher, but as we grow these things change. I then attempted college for something completely different but was unable to finish due to tragic circumstances. Now at twenty-six years old I have found what I truly want to do with my life. I took a career interest profiler, a program that provides you with possible occupations that match your interests. After taking the profiler, I find I may slightly disagree. However, my results did show me new things about myself I did not know. From these results, I have created some SMART goals to help achieve my ultimate goal.…
If there is one thing about my mother that I am certain of, is that her ultimate goal was to attend college. However, she was never given the chance to finish school and therefore, did not go to college. She now works…
There are two factors which help me take responsibility for my own learning; the fact that I enjoy learning and that I want to become a neurologist in the near future, an aspiration which I have thought about ever since I started secondary school. Both of my parents haven’t been to university so I would like to make them proud. I took early entry GCSE exams for chemistry last year and attained an A overall, a grade which I worked hard for. Success in the academic field isn’t easy, it requires boundless resilience, hard work and focus, all of which grow as you progress to the next stage. I am willing to put in all of the work needed and much more not only be successful, but excellent in my field and being able to look back at a worthy life.…
My dream for the next four years is to achieve a Physician Assistant degree at St. John’s University. As I transition to college from high school, I understand how there is no one in the world besides myself to help me reach my goal and it will require hard work as well as motivation to reach that point. At times, I feel overwhelmed with the struggles that arise in achieving my degree, but that would not stop me from my main point in coming to this school. I am able to connect my experience to the experience the Nolan’s and my dad went through when it was their time to achieve their dreams. I find it to be very lucky to go to school in New York because I am already one step ahead of my game to fulfill my target since New York is the place where there are many opportunities for everyone. Hence, having a motivated outlook on life, everything that is impossible will be…
Going to college has always been a goal to myself. Personally, it means more than expecting to get a good job with a high earning potential. It means the opportunity to develop myself as a person and become a valued member of society. It means, that as the oldest brother and first generation in my family with the possibility to attend college, setting an example for my younger siblings about how to shape your own path and break that mindset of “do what you have to do” and replacing it with one which says, “do something that makes you happy.”…
As I think about an event or experience that has influenced me in my academics and goals at CCU, I first must tell you what my goal is. My ultimate goal is to become a Christian Counselor, serving my Father well and able to support my family in that capacity. So Many events and life experiences contribute to my new found goals. Life lessons spring from relationships, and there are too many relationships to count. Family and friends, classmates, teammates and coworkers have all made an impact as my influences. Goals are made and changed with time and mine were no different, ever changing. But one day stands out as a turning point in my life, the day God revealed my purpose. Oh, I always knew He had one for me.…
First year of college was very challenging to me yet I was still wasn't ready for the courses that I chose. My goal was to obtain an a degree maybe, i haven't decided yet, and then i wanted to transfer to a 4 year institute to obtain a B.A Degree. My educational goal was to be majoring in an unknown field to many.…
Having grown up in a single parent home with two sisters who did not complete high school, made the pressure for me to succeed unimaginable. The constant reminder of achieving greatness has stuck with me since I was eight years old. Throughout middle school I was top of my class, in high school I graduated cum laude with a 4.4 GPA and currently in my 1st year of college I am top of my intermediate/college algebra class, I scored the highest grade out of all 5 of my psychology teachers classes, and I have an A in my Philosophy class. My educational goals consist of gaining knowledge throughout my entire life, achieving higher than my goals, being as involved as I can possibly be with my college/ community, and continuing to prosper. Ever since…
There are several goals I have set for myself in college; I aspire to make the dean's-list in all the years I attend college, I anticipate participating in a minimum of two organizations which can get me more absorbed in the community, and finally, I want to become involved with the student body, and attend as many school sponsored events as I can. In my junior year, when I heard I made the honor roll at my high school, I was overcome with a feeling of fulfillment. This was the first time I had made the honor roll and with this achievement was a feeling of pride for the work I put in, and for the way the work reflected in my grades. But, I stayed hungry and kept working to maintain this honor, and I finished on the honor role for the entirety…
It’s easy to make a goal rather than to achieve it. However, with determination one can succeed in accomplishing it. I have accomplished one of many goals in my list and that's to attend college. In my family not a lot attended college or even finished high school, so accomplishing this goal is a big subject of matter to my family.Getting this far is even a big accomplishment in my eye’s, especially when you break free from an assembly line of generations that never had attended college. The feeling is still overwhelming, mainly because I’m the first of many generations in my family to accomplish something big like…
If I am not helping other people reach their dreams, I’m not reaching mine either. I am so strongly devoted to making a difference in as many lives as possible. Furthering my education will put me on my path towards success. My view on success is much more than my personal accomplishments, it’s how much I can help others. I want my life to be the reason someone else’s life is made better. Helping others is what defines…
During my sophomore year my family members and peers would try to encourage me to change my life goals. Such as becoming a equine veterinarian also a professional athlete. My parents were raised in a large working ranch where there was everlasting work to be done. Therefore they believe that sports & college wasn’t necessary due it there expense. However I had a different mentality I believed that anything is possible if you put your time & effort into your future goals.…
My motivation for achieving this goal is based on the fact that this is my second college and failing is not an option. My intrinsic motivation for graduating would have to be my love for helping others in need. In order for me to achieve my career goal I would first have to achieve my academic goal. Reward or not the feeling that I get from being able to see people feel better and helping the ones in need is more than enough. My extrinsic motivation would have to be my family. I want to show them that I can reach my goal because not finishing my first college an degree gave them the impression that I wouldn 't do anything with my life and by accomplishing this goal it would make them so proud of me and shocked and that 's what I want.…
A personal accomplishment that I believe sets me apart is that I graduated high school in three years instead of four. I had to complete courses in Summer School and take extra subjects instead of fun electives , but in the end it was all worth it because I was able to start learning more about subjects that pertain to my career in college classes a year early. When my peers were taking it easy I decided to push myself and take all AP or Pre-AP courses so that I could better prepare myself for the change in difficulty in coursework that I would encounter in college. I believe this also sets me apart because I was born in El Salvador and had to learn English as a second language in school. After finally mastering the language , I proceeded to…
