Personal Analysis: Honda Cars India Ltd.
I am that kind of a person who has always avoided conflict and confrontation and tried to resolve most of the issues amicably. But the world is not a rosy place of that I knew and you have got to stand up for yourself in time of need. The confidence to deal with such situations was imbibed in me when I used to front a metal band during my college days. I joined Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) at a time when the company was expanding its product portfolio aggressively. Having shown outstanding leadership capabilities and technical prowess I was nominated, just 1.5 years after, to become the Project Leader of the “Brio Family Models” which included four upcoming models in Sedan and SUV category.
In 2015, I got the opportunity to lead a team of three for the development of the models “Amaze” and “BR-V”. The composition of the team was such that it included a member who was a year older to me, a freshman who had recently graduated from college and a third member who was completely disinterested in the project. I had to lead a team where I would not sound authoritative to senior member, mentor the freshman and also motivate the third member simultaneously bringing the results, which I successfully did and maintained just 3 % outflow of errors in Design Judgment which

I knew Honda had a flat hierarchy and it takes some time to establish oneself. I had a good rapport with my team, my seniors were valuing my efforts and I was also getting recognition from colleagues in other departments. But in the midst, there was a change in management organization and post that when I received my appraisals – I was shocked to see another average grade. I immediately contacted my Group Leader and Engineering Head for the same but was grief-stricken as they said it was because of the internal politics and they could not do anything about it as the grades were changed by the New Manager in favor of his own

My Brother Sam is Dead tells about the struggles of Sam, Tim, Eliphalet, and Susannah Meeker. The Meeker’s ran a tavern in the small Tory town of Redding, Connecticut. Their story begins in April of 1775 during the American Revolution. Sam was Tim’s older brother. Sam had been away at Yale University for a year, but he decided to join the Patriots army. This caused any problems for the Meeker family, especially since they are Loyalists and side with King George the Third.…

My team seems to be pretty realistic in what is expected of them, as far as getting training that will father help them move forward. The ultimate goal will require more research to learn about how the team will be able to work together. The recommendation after reviewing all this information is that the team seems to be well rounded, dominate, yet focused, critical thinkers, and socially compatible members. We also came up with professional development plan for team members to reach their goals and still be happy in the work place. Before starting this assignment we all thought it would be difficult to keep every individual happy within the workplace. It would be in the team’s best interest to play to the members strengths and develop the weaknesses. Allowing the cautious member to lead the projects that were extremely detailed oriented and can be completed without much group interaction. The dominate member should be allowed to help with the structure and delegation of the tasks. They have strength in getting deadlines completed on time and are charismatic enough to lead. Anything that needs to be bid on or presented would be perfect for the interactive member. Using this type of formula allows everyone the opportunity to play to their strengths and in addition creates a strong potential for…

I remember a time in school when we had to do a project with a team of classmates. We were supposed to come up with an idea for a business and set up everything about the business such as the name, type of business, how it would be managed and so on. There were four students in the group and we were able to get many different ideas about what type of business we should have and what the names would be. Each person was able to be in charge of different parts of assignment, and that way no one was required to do a large amount of work in a set time. Although we did get an A, there were some failures as well. Some students in the group were more willing to give input and weren’t afraid to speak up about their ideas. Others had to be pushed for ideas and tended to go along with what the others thought was a good decision even if they might not have agreed. Even when it was time to divvy of the work, there were discrepancies. I particularly didn’t like the idea of giving each person something different to do, only because some in the group didn’t really care about the project as much as others and I felt they weren’t trying their best on their part. It might have been better in my opinion to work…

This team was a temporary team as it was only formed to complete a task. Throughout the task each team member was motivated to contribute to the success of the task. Throughout the task the leadership was excellent as Boris the leader of this task allocated roles as soon as he becomes leader. Firstly we were supposed to choose the leader, Boris got the most votes for being the leader thus he had the responsibility to allocate us our roles immediately. Before producing our slides we were supposed to produce plans so that every person in the team knew what he was doing. The three steps were to; allocate roles in the team, start slides and the…

As part of my Business Innovation Development Project Unit, I had the opportunity to put myself into group with my friends or people I believed I could work well with. In the first stages of our group we all tried to get to know each other more through analysing personality and learning types’ test that we previously undertook. I realise we were going through the normal stages of the team formation in particular forming and norming (Tuckman, 1965). In my assignment group we had all Belbin team roles which helped us perform well throughout our project and also helped us to identify other team members’ behavioural strengths and weaknesses. During the initial stages of the group getting together I believed it was important that we all had a clear objective and somewhat of a pathway of what we wanted to achieve and that everyone shared duties within the group. My group members had roles such as researching the market to see if there is a demand for Youni which was our product for university students, they also dealt with the financial side of our product and making analysis between our product and our competitor’s product.…

I do my best to maintain a good rapport with my team members. I would say that they are comfortable approaching me if they need assistance. I encourage them to learn and accept new tasks assigned to them. I don’t stop to make everyone an in-group member in our unit. However, based from my observation, I will find few team members who are not motivated to excel themselves not because the leader isolates them from the in group members but because they prefer to be in the out-group situation. They choose to do less because they don’t want additional responsibilities. Nevertheless, I am a persistent charge nurse, I assign them new tasks to accomplish so they can benefit from the learning experience. To add to their confidence, I assured them with my presence and my willingness to help. It can be tough sometimes on my part because sometimes I end up spending a lot of coaching and monitoring them closely so they can be successful in completing their tasks. I am getting good job results from team members but inconsistently. The outcome of my leader-member relationship may not be of high-quality yet due to my being task-focused. But it is my hope that through this subject course I will be able to adopt or apply the different styles of leadership regardless what type of situation I will undergo at…

Internally, there were forces pushing the need for change. The company had been growing at a fast pace, both in terms of revenue, staff, and products. Revenue and profits were growing at a rate of 40% a year for the past three years. As the change program was in the developmental stage, it was documented that the company was incurring one or two problems a week that were due to poor processes or poor quality. The change agent's organization would sometimes not deliver the correct product to the customer, and this would cause the need for rework. Also, during the period when the quality program was in its beginning stages, the need for the program became even more evident when one of their products they supplied, portable drills, started in exploding in end user's faces. However, this reason did not ensure support or success of the program.…

Due to the Team Charter, all of the “ice-breaking” was far behind us and our mutual trust was still high. We did very well working together on our previous project and had great results. We did, however, experience the “forming” stage for this project. We held back for a little bit to see who would take charge of our new assignment. I was the leader for the Team Charter and thought I would give my other team members a chance to lead. We then realized that we didn’t have time to play games because we were the first group presenting in just a few days. We then selected three leaders for the three different sections of the project according to our strengths; Marlo: written report. Nate: PowerPoint and hand-out. Jason: Time and presentation.…
