What I learned from middle school Middle school was the ______ part of my life. Many people would fill that blank in different ways: some with the worst, most awkward, or even, in some cases, most free part of my life. However you fill in the blank, most people will agree that a kid matures the most during that time. Here are some of the things I learned from middle school that helped me mature and be ready for high school. Middle school is a weird time for everyone, and everyone had to go through it, but I learned so much from those three years. I learned if you want to have fun, you have to make friends to have fun with. Many people go through middle school keeping to themselves and never learning how to make friendship bonds because they feel awkward and are too scared to talk to someone. I have learned if I want to be a fun, social person; middle school is a great time to learn. Another thing I learned was to do your homework. As much as I don’t like it; homework has to be done. If you get it done quickly, you will never have to be stressed about doing homework last minute. One of the most important things I learned was to never burn bridges. As much as you might think you don’t need someone or want his or her friendship, you could need him or her in the future. Middle school was the _______ part of my life. You and I will probably answer the question differently, but we all learned from middle school. The things I learned have helped me tremendously, from good grades to having friends, and not being stressed. I am now a happier, more confident person because of what I learned, and I hope you are also.

It went somewhat downhill after that because during my first year of middle school my grades were at a c average. According to a study conducted by EducationNext, “moving to middle school leads to a substantial drop in student test scores in the first year of the transition, and the relative achievement of middle-school students continues to decline in the subsequent years they spend in such schools.” One aspect of the educational system that I think can be vastly improved is middle school. Although middle schoolers are faced with numerous challenges, the middle school curriculum does not allow students to explore their interests and more importantly, doesn't challenge students enough. In middle school, there is not a lot of advanced coursework that students can complete. This is why I believe that middle school students should have the opportunity to take a more strenuous curriculum by allowing them to take high school classes, as this system will give students the curriculum that they need to succeed and it will give them an abundance of time to explore their interests.…

Middle school was both exciting and frightening. It was exciting because I was able to switch classes and it made me feel older, however it was frightening because I had to impress more than one teacher and adjust to their teaching methods. The first day of middle school was different because that year my father could not see me off to school. My father died unexpectedly a few weeks before my first day of middle school which only added to the stress. Overall my first day was still pretty exciting because I knew I was going to meet new people. I was excited to see some of my old friends in the same class with me. I thought the work was going to harder since I was older, but it was not much different from elementary.…

Middle school was really weird time for me. It seemed like it was the most dramatic / drama filled. Our school at St. Peters was messed up, anything that could happen did. I've had teacher come up to me and ask for answers to what happened. Students doing bad things and etc. Also middle school to me was so fun, because people who I like got in trouble because of me. If you weren't my friend at St. Peters you better hope that you weren't mean to me, because if you were the teachers would find out what you did and they get in trouble.…

When students move from elementary to middle school, they face numerous social challenges. For example, middle schools are often much larger, and students may find themselves separated from their elementary school friends. They have to make new friends in a strange, unfamiliar setting. Also, instead of having one teacher, students have five to seven different teachers a day. That is a lot of new people to get used to.…

In a way, middle school is like a hunting trip. Going into it, you know what your goal is---graduating, or killing that huge mule deer. But you can’t do it without your gear. Your textbook, which is your bow, your pencils, which are your arrows, and finally, your hunting partner. Your hunting partner is there to enjoy the experience with you, and to help pack out the prize. In school, this would be that one good friend, or in some cases several friends that help you through it, and achieve the goal of graduation with you.…

Middle school is really different from Elementary school in an exciting way. You don’t stay in one classroom until lunch or until the end of class. Your teacher doesn’t lead you from one classroom to the other; you travel yourself! You have classes like Art, Technology, and Gym longer! In Art you draw, paint, and mold clay. In Technology, you learn about new technology related information and can play on computers! In Gym, you play sports, for example, Basketball, Kickball, and Badminton. Science, Math, Social Studies, and ELA are all taught by different teachers, not by one teacher who you…

My first reason, is that is it helps kids discover what they are good at or might like to try. For example, if a kid wants to be a doctor but doesn't know for sure and if middle school helped him he could have an easier time deciding. Also if a kid doesn't know what he wants to be middle school could help he/she find what they are good…

If I could have one 'do-over' in life, my do over would be High School. It would be High School, because knowing what I know now, I would've been a lot more involved in school. I would have joined more clubs and organizations. I would have cared more about my activities. Now, applying for college and scholarships, I have nothing to show for it. I only really did one organization in high school. If I could have a do over, I would redo my high school career and hopefully have a more impressive resume. Middle school does not prepare you enough for high school. Teachers say, do work, you won’t get easy passes like you do now. It’s going to be harder. When really, we need to know more than that. We need to be told to get involved, to be diverse.…
