I thought the poem “Our Generation” By Jordan Nichols, was very unique. It showed that people can have two perspectives on the world, a positive or a negative. This poem is different because of the way you can read it from top to bottom, and bottom to top. Both ways showed that you can view the world in two different ways. The first time read it, it was very negative with lines saying “our generation was a failure” and “our generation will be known for nothing”. The second time, It was very positive with lines saying “giving up is something we never did” and “we are the peak of mankind”. Overall this poem shows that this generation can be changed if the world is viewed more positively.…
As Joe Barton once said, “Our flag honors those who have fought to protect it, and is a reminder of the sacrifice of our nation’s founders heros.” Our flag is not to be knelt upon, but to stand as one together, remembering how Veterans risked their lives everyday to go to war and give us freedom today. The least we can do is to thank you. You gave me a future, freedom of speech, and an education, and so many more things.…
A great gift is, that Americans don’t have to live in constant fear of dying in countries such as Bolivia, and Afghanistan do to their government in conflict with other countries. Yes america does have conflict with other countries but it isn't to the point that we are so terrified of dying because of the people that live world, and the way that people think on how to sabotage other people's lives for something probably so little that isn’t that big a deal that is turned into a huge one. In countries such as Afghanistan, and Bolivia there are people…
“Home of the free, because of the brave,” is a quote that I agree with. Without people who sacrifice their lives, we wouldn’t have what we do now. Every single one of those men and women influenced this country is some way. This is America’s gift to my generation.…
I love the way you explained how people celebrated 4th of July in America. It definitely gave us a sense of patriotism and national pride. America have gone a long way. Traditionally, it's to celebrate Independence Day with American flags, red-white-blue, and that whole game. Nowadays, from my perspective, there are some patriotic people. However, for me while growing up, it's more BBQ, pool parties, fireworks, and most importantly red-white-blue & American flags. That's still somewhat patriotic and bring people together as you said, communal celebration. Those celebrations only happen in few times annually and truly united as together and helps us remember that America definitely have gone a long way.…
The American Dream has shaped this country for centuries. It inspired the works of many people like Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thomas Alva Edison, and Henry Ford. This Dream can be considered the driving force of our economy, the contributing reason to our immigrant influx, and the powering factor of our innovation. Although everyone interprets this Dream differently, the majority of individuals in this country can agree on some certain ideas and morals. Since none of this would be easy or even possible in an authoritarian regime, our rights and our freedoms play an important role in the Dream. Because of these opportunities, chasing any personal goal is always within reach. My vision of becoming a world class physicist becomes an attainable reality because the American dream allows anyone to achieve great accomplishments regardless of background, to pursue their dreams, and to live the life and have the job they want if they choose…
I am proud to be an American because children are free to pursue their dreams, to celebrate their successes and to rise to fight again when they fail. I have the opportunity to go to school and get an education for free. Moreover, if I do well I have an opportunity to receive a scholarship to a college where I can go to broaden my knowledge of the world around me. I can find out great things about my country such as more than 40 years ago we took a hard look at ourselves and said it was wrong to judge a man by the color of his skin or that long ago, brave men gave up their lives to show the strange concept of people governing themselves could work, even in the worst of times.…
I think about the responsibility to America a lot. And I think it is my job to help make this country better and great again. I also think it is my job to help protect this country to fight all the enemies who try to invade us by boat, plane, or any other way possible. There are a lot of people who perform their duties successfully and there are others who don’t do so good on performing their duties. Like myself as of others, I have to also pay for things I don’t like paying for but I do just so I can survive in my life and my career. If I dot pay for it, then I most likely wouldn’t have an education nor a job because jobs now days require education. And without that education you wouldn’t be able to do anything. The most unliked item I don’t like paying is taxes, but they are required to be paid or you lose your land, house, livestock if you have any, equipment if you have any, and possibly your own family. And losing your family would not be so fun because then you won’t have…
America’s gift? There are a lot of those… but what is America’s gift to my generation? I would say the opportunities that America has given us that no other country has. I can do anything that I want to do when I grow up. Children these days have everything they need. Our technology is growing stronger day by day, our agriculture is some of the best in the entire world, and the intelligence rank for the US as compared to other countries is 42 out of 224! Young people have more opportunites than they have ever had and…
Imagine going through our daily lives with no electricity, telephone or cars. Living in a world where innocent individuals were unjustly accused, where school was only optional and could live without laws. However this is only a brief description of how our world would be like if there was no responsibility in our country today. As American Citizens we are all accountable for different tasks, whether it may be reciting the national anthem, joining the military or standing up for a cause you feel needs improvement or stopped. It is important to take the responsibility that we have been given seriously, in order to be a mature citizen. My responsibility to America includes showing gratitude for the freedoms taken for granted, striving to make…
What is my responsibility to America? I’m sure that many people have many other responsibility’s but yet, what is mine? I feel that my duty or responsibility to America as and American is that I need to defend what is right and to do my duty to America. Now if you ask what I mean by defending what is right then let me tell you what I mean. An NFL star stood up they other day for what he thought was right, he stood up to support the fact that immigrants or African Americans are still being treated poorly and suppressed in the United States of America. This guy was the one and only Kapernick. People didn’t support him on this, some went as to so far as burning his jerseys and send hail mail to him. This was just not right, because he did have the right to stand up for that, because as it says…
Do you think America is the land of opportunity for all people? In my personal opinion, it depends on the person, because if you have someone with a lot of passion, they are hardworking; will go after what they want, will not stop till they get it, and then America is the land of opportunity for them. This is because America has much to offer people if they will just work for it. However, if you have someone who gives up easily, will not fight for what they want, don’t want to go get a job, then it is not going to be the land of opportunity for them. Also, I feel like the government takes too much taxes out of people’s paychecks to give to someone who can physically work; but being that they are lazy, they will not get off the couch and go…
If I were to be asked what I envisioned for America 8 years ago, I probably would have said something along the lines like “For everybody to be happy, and kind to one another.” Though now that I think of what I would have said my vision was it was more dreamlike, not a realistic vision. So now I would have to say my vision for America is to prepare each upcoming generation with better education, morals, and discipline.…
I will not exaggerate and say that growing up in America is a great experience and that it allows me to see Islam alone, as opposed to an Islam riddled with cultural influence. Nor will I exaggerate and say that growing up in America is a horrible experience, that I am surrounded by the influence of evil daily, and that I abhor living in "Egypt both statements are valid to a certain extent, and the point at which they compromise is the truth.…
I am not very satisfied with my life here in America. I live in a tenement which is super small and not safe. My job as a meatpacker is harsh because it has long hours and low pay. Sometimes we even find rats by the meat which is absolutely disgusting and we have to wash our hands with sausage water. When I get home I prepare food or I buy food from the stand in the streets. But do not worry grandma I make sure to be careful when I am on the streets so I don't get robbed. Then I usually eat what I prepared or bought then go to bed. I hope daily life is better to back in Poland.…
