When I was 7 I was separated from the love of my life. He was a rabbit named sleepy, and even though I thought we could last long distance, my parents did not. My family has always moved around a lot because of my dads job so his next assignment involved all of us moving to Belgium. Even though it was a hard transition it really was a good experience looking back. From it I have learned that I am always able to myself, even when its hard. When I moved to Belgium my parents decided it was a good idea to put me in a school where I didn’t speak the language, which was French. I showed up the first day thinking that everyone would love to be friends with the new girl. It did not go as planned. Everyone seemed to not like me very much and speaking the same language didn’t help. One day I decided to pretty much make them like me. I made up a game called teddy bear tag, and soon, 1 by 1, I got people to play with me. After that I was just like any other Belgium school girl. It was hard to adjust to a new school, and new people, but just being myself eventually got me a friend or two. When I was 7 I was separated from the love of my life. The late 1800’s and early 1900’s were times of great reform in America. Tired of the poor working conditions, overcrowding of cities, political corruption and abuses by industrialists, people known as Progressives took it upon themselves to create change. By using various forms of the media, combined with organized protests, petitions, and the power of the vote, the Progressives exposed these issues, and informed thousands of Americans of the conditions that existed. The result was a short-lived era of reform, in which social, political, and industrial conditions were targeted and improved.…
