Personal Experience: An Immigration To The United States
I was at my desk at Moneague College in St. Ann, the home of Marcus Garvey, when my mother called with the news our immigrant Visa to the United States were ready. After waiting ten years, I was still very skeptic that America would become my new reality. Three weeks later, it was my first night in America, and I realized my life has changed forever. After the four and a half hour flight, the drive from John F. Kennedy International Airport, and the delicious welcome dinner at my grandmother’s high-rise apartment in New Jersey, it was a new world. The huge buildings, wide streets, and the diversity of the people took my breath away. Christine was kind enough to hire me as a live-in housekeeper until my mother was able find a job and an apartment. I spent my days cleaning and was fortunate enough to spend my evenings observing Christine at work. When I asked “what does your company do?” she responded, “we help people work better.” She does this by improving internal processes which intern maximizes the client firm’s output. I became very interested in the field of consulting, and every chance I got I engaged Christine to find out more about this new and innovative career field. I got exposed to the application process and the great importance Human Resource Mangers place on the institutions from which applicants graduate. I chose to apply to The College of New Jersey, because it currently has one of the best undergraduate Business programs in New Jersey. My current college curriculum and my exposure to the critical need for adequate liquidity levels for governments, companies, and individuals has confirm and expanded my interest beyond the accounting to the discipline of finance as a career focus.

I have decided to become a Financial Analyst. Currently, being surrounded by high level consultants who solve complex problems and help business work more efficiently, has further inspired me to a career in which I can help others to make sound financial decisions. However, I must develop a competence in finance order to start a practice as a Financial Analyst. I am assured that a finance degree from one of the highest rated universities in New Jersey is the best start to my career in
