Personal Experience In A Military Team
It is hard to find a specific situation where I have not been part of a team for the last 12 years. Being in the military is all about teamwork. You depend on the person on your left and right sometimes for your very life. The instance I want to expound upon is something we call organizational days. They premise is that on a certain day each year every company in the battalion play each other in various sporting events. The goal is to win enough events to be crowned champions and taking home the trophy and of course the bragging rights. To give some back story to this special day, I was the company commander of a headquarter unit. Basically I had all the battalion staff and higher ranking individuals in my company. The bad thing about having this unit concerning sports is that they are well, a bit older and fewer in number then the rest of the companies that had mostly 20 year olds. My company did have a reputation for being very physically fit despite the age variation. So despite that we were up for the challenge. The sports events were broken down into three events brackets: tug-of-war, flag football, and volleyball. …show more content…
I started the day with dressing up in a spartan costume and riding in on a red Jeep with music blaring and flags waving right in front of the entire battalion formation. It was fun and I think it both inspired my company and intimidated my competition. I not a huge guy by any standards and not especially gifted at sports but I am quick and strong for my size so played in both the tug-of-war and flag football. I contributed where I could physically but always keep the troops rallied. The chips were stacked against us from the beginning but we never lost our motivation. At the end of the day we had won each sports bracket and won the trophy in a clean sweep. I was very proud of my company and it will go down as one of the most fun days I have spent with my

I had scored a multitude of times that game, and felt extremely accomplished. The whole team received championship trophies and celebrated. That is the old trophy that still sits on my desk. Looking back, I wouldn’t necessarily say that winning a second grade flag football championship was my biggest accomplishment, but that one trophy led to six more years of football, my interest in lacrosse, and everything in between. And every time I look at that trophy, not only do I remember that day in second grade, but I gain a sense of perseverance and determination for the things to come in my…

JOTC uses teamwork everyday if you think about it. One way the cadets at Rivercrest use teamwork is when we went to the service learning project at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. We all came together to lay mulch, cut bushes, and rack for the five hard working gentlemen there. Without our teamwork we would not have gotten the job done. Everyone knew their duties and they all applied to them.…

Everyone on my team shared in his pride, though perhaps not quite so enthusiastically. We were all proud of ourselves. We were each individually awarded blue ribbons and collectively awarded a plaque and two trophies, one for first place and the other for holding one slot for so long. This was a huge ego boost to all of us and we went home, excited to flaunt our blue ribbons.…

I have had multiple experiences with being on a team. For over a year I have played with a group of friendly people on a Minecraft server and have worked as a team building with this team / group of friends. I have learned a lot from them and I have offered them a lot of advice too. I am very skilled in working in teams as I have played with one for a long…

My most significant experience in working as a part of team occurred when I was apart of the softball team. Without my teammates I wouldn’t have learned all that I know now about softball today. I was familiar with the softball players. We helped each other improve, whether it was with running, practicing drills, catching, or throwing. We never left a teammate behind. During practices we all ran as a team. During games we also chanted when the batter hit the ball. With out my team I wouldn’t have been as good as a softball player. So to me with teamwork come new friends and wonderful coaches.…

Merriam-Webster (2016) defines a profession as “a calling requiring specialized knowledge and often long and intensive academic preparation.” To most people when they think of profession’s they do not consider being a Soldier a profession in the same respect they view a Physician, Lawyer or Police Officer. However, to many who have joined the Army, this a lifelong career for them. I will define what the Profession of Arms is, discuss the importance of the Army professional culture, tie in the balancing roles of the profession and last but not least, the importance the role of the Human Resources Sergeant plays in the Profession of Arms.…

    My Baseball Moment

It was a week away and surprisingly I was calm for the upcoming event. Usually I would be nervous from the top of my head all the way down to the bottom of my toes, but I had so much confidence that it was inspiring to others. Knowing that the big day was 2 days away, of course I had to go out and buy new equipment so I could not play the part, but also look the part. Shortly after buying a new Nike helmet, Swingman batting gloves and a brand new solid pro maple SamBat I immediately went to the cages. The bat had the biggest sweet spot and the most pop out of all my bats. The ball hitting of the barrel sounded like gunshots. I felt like taking a million swings, but I knew if I stayed there for a long time I would be a little tired for the big day so I only took 100 swings and called it a day. Finally the next day I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock with the mindset of determination. I quickly got dressed in the proper sports attire and fled out the house with my brother. On the way there I had the speakers on blast playing the most inspiring and highest BPM songs I had on my play-list. After arriving to the parking lot I had walked to the front entrance of the stadium where they had given me a shirt with a specific number and a cap so it could be worn on the field. After suiting up and taking the first step on the field, the amazing view of the inside of a baseball stadium had me speechless. Knowing that professionals play here too had me feeling proud that I was doing something with my life and that hopefully it was going to lead me somewhere better. Before starting all the drills and the showcasing of the performance of the players, the commissioner of the league had a few words to say. Shortly after the speech was done, we had finally started to begin! Everyone was split into different groups. Some kids were hitting, some were pitching, and some were taking ground balls. I was put into the hitting…

I’m three miles in on a four-mile morning training run along the sandy Southern Californian coastline. I can’t breathe, and all I see is the ground an inch in front of my face. My Drill Sergeant’s booming voice jolts me back into my senses. I push myself up as I spit out the mouthful of wet sand between my teeth, and immediately my legs begin propelling me forward. My running buddy, De Guzman, already got 10 or so seconds on me so I lean forward, wipe my face, and keep advancing. For another what feels like an eternity, I feel my arms and legs robotically pumping. My heart is racing, my entire body is shaking, my eyes begin to slowly shut, and then I see it: Lieutenant Colonel McMahon standing by the Academy gates, announcing everyone’s times.…

No longer standing as an individual person that worked alone but a part of a well oiled machine. That year I earned my first award from my high school coaches, it was an award that stood for team spirit, showing my support and bright spirits in every practice, every game. It was an award that reminded me of the true importance of being positive and supportive through every game. Sports rely heavily on the physical aspects but the mental is just as important and if the mental game starts to fall apart then what can the team really accomplish…

For years the Pentagon has paid sports teams to honor veterans and those still wearing the uniform. There are celebrations where sports teams wear military inspired uniforms to show solidarity with who they consider their heroes. At almost every sporting event, you will see a large American flag covering most of the field before the game begins. A famous or professional (depending on the event) singer performs the nation’s anthem. The military color guard (usually representing all branches of the armed service) is given most of the camera’s attention during the ceremony. The anthem usually culminates with a presentation of military aircraft flying over as the final notes are sung. This example is just one instance in almost every major sporting…

From my personal experience, team related questions are the most frequently asked questions in job interviews. Companies want to know the interviewees’ experience with diversified teams, because they want to know the type of team player of the interviewee. As most companies function in the unit of a team, it is increasingly important for employees and managers to understand how a team works, and how to transit smoothly from different stages. The Army Crew Team case reveals the frustration associated with declining performance by the varsity boat at the United States Military Academy. The symptoms are obvious, but the root causes lie underneath the symptoms. Multiple factors from multiple parties contributed to the situation. The best solution that addresses the root causes will be discussed in the conclusion.…

. . like they say teamwork makes the dream work. In track I use teamwork to ensure success on the track with my relay team. I work together with three other people, and push them to try their hardest to help us be successful. In my community, I use the element of teamwork to collaborate with fellow teachers at the summer camp I volunteer at. We use teamwork to help efficiently plan activities and lessons for the children. I also use the teamwork aspect learned from sports at school; we had to decide on which class shirts to order so we came together with each other to reach a mutual agreement on which shirt design to…
