Evolutionary theory states that all animals are motivated by the desire to ensure that their genes make it into the gene pool of the next generation. Natural selection is the tendency of individuals best adapted to their environment to survive and pass on their genes. Sexual selection is the probability of passing on our genes depends partly on any chances of survival but also on ability to attract a mate. Those who have genes for features which make them attractive are most likely to reproduce and pass all their genes on. This could be supported by Darwin’s suggestion that the peacock’s bright colouring was there to attract the peahen. Sexual selection is important for us as humans as some physical characteristics may not have developed to increase our survival rate, but simply to make us more sexually desirable. An example of this is eye/hair colour and distribution of muscle. Our sexual behaviour can be influenced genes, and this is similar no matter what culture you come from. One of my adult children was always coming up short for one thing or another, and would invariably ask “Mom can I borrow some money until next pay day?” The third time this occurred I agreed to loan the funds on the condition that she sit down with me and create a budget, and further, that she save the receipts for all of her expenditures for one month. It was really an eye opener for her. (She was spending around $200.00 a month on soda pop alone.) She started her budget about three years ago and has not had to borrow since……

In the long run, more stuff starts coming up and I need to start saving up for those times in need. For example, with me graduating high school and going to college, I will need money for certain things, and there will come a time where I might need to limit myself and reduce on some things. I will try to minimize eating out all the time by eating at home. The thirty-day expense track worksheet was of lots of help because I kept track of all my expenses. Money really is a big part of our lives because without it we would not be able to have the things we have and want. So much of our money is spent on unnecessary things, or useless stuff. If I would have saved my money I would have had a total of at least two hundred dollars for this last month. Money that could have been well spent on other things. I will try and keep myself from spending on things that are not necessary. One thing I need to start doing is saving up. I am one of those people that when they get money, they spend it right at the chance they get. It is not good because you…

Reassess your savings goals. Subtract your expenses (the ones you can't live without) from your take-home income (i.e. after taxes have been taken out). What is the difference? And does it match up with your savings goals? Let's say you've decided you can definitely get by on $150 per month, and your paychecks amount to $230 per month. That leaves you with $80 to save. If there’s absolutely no way you can fit all your savings goals into your budget, take a look at what you’re saving for and cut the less important things or adjust the time-frame. Maybe you need to put off Make a budget. Once you’ve managed to balance your earnings with your savings goals and spending, write down a budget so you’ll know each month or each paycheck how much you can spend on any given thing or category of things. This is especially important for expenses which tend to fluctuate, or which you know you're going to have a…
