My cheer coach has helped me and taught me how to be my best and persevere when times are tough because bad things always happen, it is unavoidable, but giving up is definitely avoidable. I don’t really remember the first two years of her being my coach as I was only around 4 years old at the time. I loved dance and gymnastics with her, she always made me want to practice, even though I wasn’t the greatest at the time. She made everything fun, but eventually I wanted to quit. I don’t remember why, and I really wish I hadn’t now. I gave up, which is something now that I am older I was taught is never the best solution. Later on I decided I wanted to do cheer. It was the end of the year in fourth grade, I have been doing cheer camps science before I quit gymnastics and I really wanted to tryout for MYF Cheer. Even though we do these every practice, coming of a break is hard to get back into doing the conditioning especially for a fifth grader who isn’t use to doing this much work. It was absolute torture and it still is, but I understand why it is now. Going through my first and second season it got easier, I got stronger and doing the intense routines got easier over time. Even though the worst thing to ever hear is, “full out” which means going through the whole routine with all of the tumbling, stunts, jumps, and the whole dance portion. This is even worse when we already had to do it three times in a row and we are already exhausted.
