Before I could even think about how I would look in a varsity volleyball uniform, I knew I had to mightily improve both my vertical jump and arm strength. One of coach Dan's favorite team exercises that teaches both is the dreaded tire relay. Two teams feverously flip two big rig tires in a battle to see who can cross the finish line first. All the while, coach Dan yells at both teams like a Tasmanian devil in heat. Coach Dan would bellow, "Focus on the here and now and you will succeed!" Practices can be very grueling but are crucial to understanding the many different aspects of the game as well as learning the strengths and tendencies of teammates.
