I have always wanted to hit a dinger since the day I started baseball. Keegan and I were warming up before the semi final game. It started off regular, he throws it to me, I throw it back. Then my team started taking pop ups, but me and keegan still got to warm up because he was starting pitcher and I was catching for him. It was pretty wet outside but that wouldn't stop us from playing our game.…
Then my friend gave me a kitten. It was abandoned by her mother and my friend picked it up. He was so small and I decided to have one to help him. It was only two weeks and cannot control himself pee or poop. On the first week, I tried my best to help him survive and hope that he could grow up and be a good friend to me.…
6A. I started with once upon a time in a very far away land there lived papa bear, mama bear and baby bear. For the song, I started out with five green sparkled frogs. Five green sparkled frogs sat on a speckled log, eating some most delicious bugs. YUM YUM! (rubbing their tummy.)…
C is for cats, because I love cats. My mom is a professional dog trainer and loves animals. My family has a about fifty animals, five dogs, six cats, 30 rabbits and a lot of fish. Cats are one of my favorite animals in the world because most of them are very nice, and make me feel safe when I am around them.…
It all began when a was a little boy and all I wanted was a dog, for years I begged and begged, and still no dog. I felt as if I was incomplete without one, I had even written persuasive essays in school on why I should get a dog and waited and just hoped for it. Finally, when I was in 5th grade, I found a church ministry where we met once month and came up with ideas to raise money for the local rescue. During the meetings, we would also go for a walk, those who had animals would walk them. One time, somebody from the rescue came with one of the rescue dogs for the walk, which inspired me to go to the rescue and check it out.…
Hair? A paw? What was going on? I felt sick, I felt like I had a fever the night before. I woke up wondering if it was a dream but it wasn’t somehow I woke up and I was a dog. No one would ever believe this. How am I going to show my mom and dad it was me.…
It was a relaxing day at home in the Helfman household. My mom was constantly jabbering on the phone, my dad’s eyes were glued to his computer working, and my brother was stuck to his bed and never got up. My brother, Danny had gotten into Syracuse University a few months earlier and he was ecstatic about the life he was going to make for himself. Danny and I got along well our whole lives, but we weren’t as close as some other siblings. This upset me because sometimes all I wanted to do was talk to my brother and get his advice. I have three dogs. My dogs Sadie, Tootsie, and Lucky are cuddly and soft toy poodles.…
We all can't wait to grow up when we're young. The world is filled with all this possibility and wonder. I've been told ever since I was little that the world is my oyster; in other words, the world was completely opened to me and I could be anything I put my mind to. So I just couldn't wait to grow up. Being an adult seemed awesome and I wanted to skip over the kid stage and get to my life, start living and taking care of myself. I thought I knew it all and I was ready to prove it. I had this idea, this grand picture that I had painted in my mind of life and how it should turn out. I thought I knew it all, until the day that suddenly I didn't. They tell you to be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. Life decided it was…
An event that marked my transition from childhood to adulthood would be the day I moved to the United States From Dominican Republic four years ago. I was fourteen years old when my family and I decided to change our lives. My mother always wanted a better future for our family., therefore she decided this would be the best for all of us. At first it was indubitable difficult for me to become accustomed to a new country, leaving the rest of my family behind. A country where I was required to learn a new language and learn so many new things to improve not only the way I was in school but also learn how to improve myself internally. It was a challenge, but I am proud to say that even if I had atrocious days where people criticized me by reason…
When I got to St. Vincent’s hospital I thought I was in labor but the doctor said my water wasn’t broken yet. So I had to walk up and down the hallway for the baby to come down. Then finally the doctor pulled my water. And oh my god I was in so much pain. The nurse said” Keep pushing, the baby is almost out.” With a final push I had my baby. She was the most beautiful little baby with dark hair and big light brown eyes. I called Diana.…
When asked to write about a childhood experience most people think of the time they lost their first tooth when they were 6, or about the time they started school when they were 5, however, I’m going to write about summer. It wasn’t just any summer it was the summer that I went to the lake with my Dad and Papa. I was about 4 and couldn’t be any more excited about what was going to happen…
Growing up can be challenging even with the ideal surroundings. Your teen years are even more puzzling because you seem to be stuck in between being a child and an adult. Throw in not having a father or mother around and life gets difficult. The year 2001 was a difficult year for my family and the nation. My life growing up wasn’t picture perfect, but in one very long month I learned that kindness from those around will help you endure and survive.…
“Dogs are great. Bad dogs, if you can really call them that, are perhaps the greatest of them all.”…
Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…
Veterinarian, author, lawyer, doctor, and psychologist: these were the occupations I considered pursuing throughout my years. Though the specialities differ, one similarity is evident in all—they all give back to their respective community. Noticeably, my interests would alter throughout the years; I knew that I wanted to care for others, but I did not know how. I knew that I wanted to have an occupation that was interactive, but I did not know which. Granted, as high school was coming to a close more and more relatives became interested or invested in my educational aspirations; for instance, my grandmother was eager to persuade me to become a doctor in order to heal her aching back. One of those relatives would contribute a suggestion that…
