The group that accompanied Lewis and Clark, “…ranged from 30 to 45 soldiers and frontiersmen, including one black, and it eventually included one woman”. The black individual was one of Lewis’ slaves and the woman was a Native American translator. Each member of this team had a different job and worked well as a unit. According to Steve Gregory in his article entitled “Follow the Footsteps of Lewis and Clark”, “They befriended nearly all native tribes they encountered, recorded for science roughly 300 previously uncatalogued species of plants and animals and, in the process, laid the foundation for the eventual western expansion of their nation”. These adventures worked their way through a large portion of the United States, mostly, in a…

For my mission we were sent to find another English state. I pray that don’t get lost like the Roanoke people. I’m pretty positive that the men on this ship are also thinking the same thing like me. But even though we are kind of scared we complete the expedition. nothing will stand in our way. Our expedition is to find silver and also…

Imagine having to make a decision that would not only determine the fate of your own life but that of many others as well. How would you go about reaching a conclusion and how could you convince others to trust in your choice? In early June of 1805, Lewis and Clark were faced with such a problem. As the Corps of Discovery ventured up the Missouri River, they arrived at a junction of streams: one leading northwest and the other taking a turn for the south. Selecting the wrong path would have been disastrous for the party, potentially bringing the expedition to an untimely end. However, Lewis and Clark stay constant in their pursuit of the west coast and confidently decide to sail down the left-hand fork, which proves itself to be the correct…
After that, we decided to meet up at Mooney’s Bay at three o’clock sharp. This was my first winter in Canada and I felt quite nervous about tobogganing. I was in second grade at the time and I was terribly afraid of the possibility of injuring myself. It was a hard decision, but I knew I had to go tobogganing one way or another, so I decided to go with Henry to Mooney’s Bay.…
“How are you feeling right now?” My father asked, I replied, “Excited.” This was in fact, an understatement. I had never seen or been to a natural reservation so highly known as the Grand Canyon. I have always been the type of person who enjoyed going camping or staying outside, appreciating the presence of nature. It was great news to hear. After weeks of planning, our family was on the road heading out to the Grand Canyon. After each hour, the lands we were crossing seemed to become more absent from human civilization. The expanding rocky prairie whizzed pass the car windows and reminded us of the purity of the land. Soon enough, we made it into Arizona, and then, finally, our destination.…

Every year, my family on my dad’s side goes rafting down the Truckee river. It has always been a tradition to go to tahoe over the summer, and go rafting one of those days. Over the years, we have had many fond memories, like water fights with water guns, and pushing people into the water. First, we go down to the place to rent the raft, they set up our family with two, and then we go down the river until there is a bend where they take you and your raft out. At the end of the place where you can raft, there is a little grill that we would go to for lunch.…
As a student I find myself seated in front of a computer screen for long hours at a time; likewise, it is my obligation as a student to use technology as a resource to further my comprehension in my degree. In my opinion a good excuse to be seated in front of a computer for long hours. It is easy to say that I find a lot of inspiration form online sources, blogs, and social media – which I do – however, I feel most inspired when I step away from the computer screen. I find inspiration in the ordinary; I love to travel and see new things, in this case this is where I found my inspiration. Along my travels to Whistler Mountain in previous winters I saw a portion of land that was clear-cut, but one tree stood alone covered in snow. This piece…
American history is accompanied by a long list of explorers who first discovered and who explored the massive continent. All of the explorers had an impact on the development of America. The Lewis and Clark expedition, also known as the Corps of Discovery, stands prominently at the top part of this list. The Lewis and Clark Expedition has had a significant political, social, and economic effect on America. They were the first to map out the west and set off westward expansion. Without the success of the expedition growth of America would have taken five times as long, as predicted by Thomas Jefferson.…

Did you ever do something that you thought was going to be boring and not fun, but you turned out to loved it? I know that this has happened to my owner many times. One of my fonder memories of her is when she went to Yellowstone National Park. She had a great time and found out something about herself that even she didn’t know and I got sweet revenge.…
