Personal Narrative: A Short Story: Filly's House
"This is seriously a lot to process." Mary told herself. "So what did I do? I invite two random strangers with a kid, know about a person I am completely in no relation with, make them think I helped them figure out something and sort of talk them into taking me with them. And oh! I let them pay! And...I have to return that. I have gotten myself into a mess too hard to clean up." She sat thinking for a few moments. It became dark outside. She went to her fridge, opened it and found it half-empty. "Oh-oh. Need milk, butter, meat. And it's dark. And chilly. But I guess I have to go."

She put on her jacket and set out to a little shop next street named 'Filly's day out'. It was a cosy little shop that sold all groceries. Ms. Bunn, the shopkeeper

Can you inform the headmistress saying it was very urgent. That...that...umm....my cousin has some operation...somewhere...it was an emergency...something like that."

"I will cook up some story. Here we are."

Rose's house was wonderful. It was big and very spacious. As they entered, the room was lit and a huge chandelier hung from the ceiling. There was a living room on the right side and a a dinning table on the left side. A little away, from the dinning table was the kitchen. Straight-wards, there was a wooden spiral staircase. Behind the staircase was a a room with a glass door for laundry.

Rose put her hands on her hips and shrugged. "It isn't that much but I guess it will do."

Mary turned at her with raised eyes. "Each time I come here, I look around with widened eyes."

"Sure you do." Replied Rose. "Sit. I will get the stew pot."

Mary sat on a chair around the dining table. Rose came holding a large black vessel filled with a steaming broth of lamb and vegetables. It looked very appetising when it was served with a roasted potatoes and some coconut rice.

"This tastes so wonderful, Rose." Said Mary. "The lamb is so good and goes amazing well with potatoes and rice. I haven't never tried this

How does a positive attitude help avoid conflict? According to Remez Sasson,”It brings optimism into your life, and makes it easier to avoid worries and negative thinking… you see the bright side of life” (Sasson). This shows that seeing the bright side of life will make all worries and negativity dissipate during tough challenges. During World War 2, many people used the method of positivity to endure the misery. From Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank tries to stay positive while in hiding. It was exceedingly challenging getting around without getting captured by the Nazi. Another novel is Dear Miss Breed: True Stories of the Incarceration During World War ll and a Librarian Who Made a Difference from Joanne Oppenheim. One of the many letters is from Louise Ogawa, and she, like all the other Japanese, had to go to an internment camp. To distance herself from the hardships, she tried to stay positive and think of the positive. Having a positive attitude is the best way to respond to conflict, especially during horrendous situations like World War 2.…

Having the luxury of great health and family, it can be difficult for me to see outside the realm of comfortability and see the daily hardships people experience. There are so many people without housing, stability, and monetary resources, and these people often find themselves wondering where they can find help and figure out what to do next during trying times. One place people can reach out for assistance is Ronald McDonald House Charities. The nonprofit provides housing and food for families with a critically ill child in the hospital. The forty-two room house aims to provide comfort and support for families living through their worst nightmare. The charity provides this support by its network of staff and volunteers who prepare food for…

I come from a world where the only thing that is constant, is change. Changing states, changing houses, and changing schools. Unlike most other kids, I don't have a childhood home where I made countless memories, in fact, my earliest memories as a child all consist of cardboard moving boxes, along with unimaginably long car rides to foreign places. I don’t have a door marked to show how I've grown over the years, and I don't have a bedroom wall thick with paint covering over colors I chose as a child. Truthfully, often times when I was younger, and would see someone with these things, I was tempted to be envious and couldn't help but to think how lucky they were to have such stability. As a result of this, I spent a large portion of my childhood…
