Different people think, live, view, and judge in distinct ways. That’s what makes life so interesting. The great diversity of the world sometimes has an effect on certain people. Humanity itself has ways of expressing its differences, for example there’s; art, music, fashion, and hobbies, etc. All these are factors that can help identify ones personality, lifestyle, and views on certain topics, etc. This helps define us in a way, it’s a form of expression, whether personal or not.…
I lived in Hollywood, FL for nine years to long. It was circumstantial how I wound up there. It was not a pleasant experience. I went to Florida niave. I thought that the blacks from different parts of the world got along. I was in for a rude awakening. My family goes back to be an American every since colonization. I felt like an outsider in America an I’m a veteran. I experienced prejudice and stereo typing from both the men an the women. I t would pain me to see how other black Americans were treated. Most of the black americans families migrated from Mississippi, Alabama and the Carolins. The majority of the Islanders lived in their own commities like Mirramor, Little Hatti and…
I was born to protect this land And to be proud of what I came from I am an American And I can not change that As much as I can’t change The color of my skin America is a land of greed Red, White and Blue replaced by GREEN…
I am American. I was born in the United States America. Being an American has various meanings for me. It means I have endless opportunities. It means that I have a standard to uphold. And finally, it means that I am very lucky. When I think of America, I think of the blood and tears that was shed in order to make this beloved country. I think of the Revolutionary war and the thousands of fathers, brothers, and uncles that stood up, fought, and died for freedom. I think of the Civil War, and the bravery and nobility that was shown when fighting for what people believed in. I think of the 20th century, when technological innovation was at its height, and the great working minds that gave us what we know today. I think of World War Two and the…
I am sure you find many letters coming across your desk from parents who have taken the opportunity to ‘brag’ about their child. I know mine won’t be the best, but I hope that I do my daughter justice at the end. As most parents do, especially with their first child, they keep a folder of milestones their child has reached throughout their years; a folder filled with report cards, love letters, photos, school projects, etc. When I look back at one of Morgan’s Kindergarten project “All about Me”, I couldn’t agree more with the saying on the front of her book exclaiming, ”There is nobody in the world exactly like me!”. It’s exactly how I feel about Morgan.…
Growing up in suburban, New York as a New Yorker, I always saw that I had some privileges that my white friends did not. Simply, reminiscing, I don’t think it was a good privilege, as you might know! Black people do say the word “Ni***a” – Many of my friends would not dare say that word, because they think it’s like saying the other N word that ends with “ger”; nevertheless, I see that as a privilege as black guy growing up in America.…
In my American Dream I wanted to be an Orthodontist. To achieve this goal I wanted to attend the University of Memphis. For the first four years to obtain my bachelor’s degree. Then I will go to The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry for four years for dental schooling, and another two years for a post doctoral program for the study of Orthodontics. To do all of this I will have to do more than what I do to get through high school.…

The american dream is what all young people hope to obtain later in their life after college. Although the American dream is a wonderful life to have, I don’t want just the idea of living an average lifestyle that every person purses. I rather be more than average and live a life that is overly favored and blessed by God.…
As a child growing up I was born and raised as a country boy. Not too far from the inner city, but far enough from most convenience stores. Moving in the city not knowing the city life as well as I do now. I came across a few problems. These problems I would call them life’s experiences. Whether they be good or bad. The three problems I came across were. Public schools, meeting new friends, and understanding the difference in personalities.…
I never thought I’d be an All American. After losing my “sure thing” state finals match, I didn’t think I would ever achieve the title. The loss was a shock after going 38-1 on the regular season with my only loss stemming from a shoulder injury early in a match. I wrestled my way through states with pins, one over opponent who beat me the year earlier, up to face the Chilhowie senior in the finals. I had a three point lead in the first period before I, in non-wrestler vernacular, screwed the pooch. I pushed a move too much and got turned to my back and pinned in the first period.…
The day started off as any normal day. My mother woke me up and said “we must go.” Her voice sounded very urgent for what I thought was just a trip to the grocery store. My mom laid my outfit on my bed and packed by book bag; that’s when I figured out that I was starting school. I wasn’t entirely oblivious to the fact that I was going to familiarize myself with a completely different environment, but I just thought I had a little more time to prepare. Well, it turns out that I was wrong. You see, I wasn’t your average pre-schooler who was nervous about making friends. I was the immigrant child who had never spoken a word of English.…
The fake grass was deeply green like usual, the sun continued to shine like it did everyday till 7 o’clock sharp, and as everyone wore their dull white shirts, I thought to myself “why did our society end up so euphoric?” Was I the only one who thought about the world before “The great crisis” or did someone else think the same way as me? It was 5080 and “the great crisis” happened about 300 years ago way before I was born, no one ever speaked of the old America, because it was considered a crime to think of such evil. But tomorrow was every girl in the 10th grades birthday, we were all turning 15, this meant that 10 out of the 43 girls would be picked as interns to the woman elders who society called the wise women. One of…
When asked to write about a childhood experience most people think of the time they lost their first tooth when they were 6, or about the time they started school when they were 5, however, I’m going to write about summer. It wasn’t just any summer it was the summer that I went to the lake with my Dad and Papa. I was about 4 and couldn’t be any more excited about what was going to happen…
Living in the United States have been many challenges for my family and me, as a young kid, I always strived for a college education to open opportunities in the future and support my family. My family and I live in South Omaha where most of the people live under the poverty line. I live in South Omaha Projects, and it is risky filled with crimes and gun shots. A few days ago, while studying in the dead of night, I heard a far too common sound in my neighborhood, a gunshot. I then heard many more, and I realized what I had realized far too often, which was that there been another shooting. The financial difficulties are what led my family to live in the projects. I want to make a change and impact my family life positively. I can uplift…
