Personal Narrative: Bailey Welch
I was longing for something to fill that void in my heart. I had no authority figure or parents who were around to care for me. I was slowly slipping into the palm of the devil’s hand. I started hanging with the wrong crowd; I became a bully and thief at the age of 10. I came to the conclusion that in this life I had no future and no one cared if I lived or died. I spent most of my days running from my problems and trying to make others feel the same pain I felt. Day to day I saw my father spiral farther and farther into a dark hole. I remember this one moment where everything changed. It was the day I met Bailey Welch. I stumbled upon her on one hot summer night. I was walking past the local YMCA when I heard the screeching of shoes and the

Bailee Grace Gunnell- If you were to ask me if I would ever change my name if I had the chance, I would say no. My name defines me, even if some annoying little kid tells me that I am a girl who has a boy name. I still wouldn't trade it for another one. Even if my name doesn't have the most interesting meanings. Bailee means public servant, Grace means Grace of God and Gunnell the descendant of Gunnilla.…

I’ve never wrote in a diary nor have a planned on it, but I feel that my experience should be shared with everyone. My name is Edith Goldberg. I was born 1928 in Teschenmoschel for most of my life which is a small village near Kaiserslautern, Germany. My family were farmers that lived in a small village of about 200 people. The village had a very small Jewish community… It used to be bigger, but over time people either had left or died. From what I remember I had a normal, happy childhood with my parents and sister. I remeber my family and I would be hay-making in the summer and tobogganing in the winter. My family always stuck to the Jewish traditions. Man, Those were the goodtimes. I also remembers a time that wasn’t all that good, which…

I moved from Detroit, MI to Ypsilanti, MI, for a better living. It was December 29, 2008. I had just given birth to my daughter. My daughter was born at 9:45p.m, weighing 5lbs and 3ounces. I named my daughter Saphira Parthenia Franks. Saphira died at 36 weeks, due to still born. The doctor told me” Sometimes this happens without a reason and you will be able to have more children”. I already had my mind made up, that I would wait until I turn thirty to have another baby. I was heartbroken and disgusted with myself. I was already going insane from the deaths of my father in November 2006 and my grandma in July 2008. Therefore, I was not able to cope with their three deaths at once.…

My mother, “Regina Hopkins,” has been a positive influence in my life. She has raised 6 kids all by herself as well as earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a City College in Gainesville, Florida. My mother has been through pretty much everything a person can go through outside of war and was still able to be there and provide for all 6 of her kids. In high school, my mother wanted to play football and couldn't because she was a girl and back-in-the-day women were not allowed to play football with the guys. However, she remained strong by raising 6 kids and independently took care of all of us on her own. My mother has several qualities that I would love to develop. The first quality she has is balance; she certainly knows how to make…

Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped. I was shrouded in a cloud of anxiety and anxiousness. Suddenly, I was dragged from my reverie.…
