The article I just read recently, was “Children’s Arrests in Bullying Case Distress Tennessee City” written by Christine Hauser. Hauser writes about how children of the ages of 12 years old were arrested for bullying a boy. There were 10 children involved who were pushing the boy into the street and trying to provoke him into making a move. One of the children was recording the whole incident while the boy was being beaten up and later had posted it on YouTube. After the arrest of the children’s parents and churches started to gather up at the city hall and demand the police officers to drop the charges described as “criminally responsible for the conduct of another”. Zacchaeus and LaVonia Crawford were later on revealed as the mothers…

I recently read a dictionary’s definition of the verb ‘bully’ as “[to] use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.” (MW Dict.) The article titled “Defining Bullying Down” by Emily Bazelon describes how the issue of bullying will never be solved if we continue to describe such a wide array of behaviors as bullying. Bazelon states that since it’s common to label everything from schoolyard teasing to harassment and intense violence as bullying, we can’t teach victims and bystanders how to stop it. Studies have shown that the best way to stop bullying is to deem it unacceptable. By shaming the behavior itself, we embarrass the perpetrator so they will think twice before doing…

Bullying is not an action we wish to see or experience. Girl-to-girl bullying is not wished upon as well, especially when you are apart of it. Since the beginning of my school education I seemed to become a magnet of bullies. In elementary school, I tried to be helpful towards others. I assisted with homework, cleaned up after activities, and I even did most of the work in group projects because the other kids groaned and complained about it. Unfortunately, due to my acts of being helpful I was called, "dog" by the girls who wore nicer clothes than I did. That nickname stuck around until 4th grade because of the fact I'd listen to anyone who'd ask for help. I was even called, "Heavy" as a supposed nickname for "Heaven" when it has been to call me fat. Around 5th grade,…

Bullying is a very negative action and creates major problems in our society. Nothing good ever comes out of bullying someone. It can however change someone’s life forever. It actually does ruin many lives both of the bully and of the victim. The bully if caught and punished will then have a criminal record for the rest of their life. Unless they get psychological help, they will probably end up being a repeat offender. The victim often becomes depressed, withdrawn and often times either commits suicide or becomes a bully themselves. Bullying is more than just a part of growing up. It is a very violent form of aggressive behavior. Anti-bullying Laws will never completely solve the problem; only mask it temporarily until everyone starts working together to stop the root of this cruel behavior.…
