Personal Narrative: Chemo Therapy
When I woke up, I was in the hospital again with my parents around me. “How are you darling?” the doctor asked. “I’m okay, can I go home now? I asked the doctor. “The stress caused her to faint. Her condition is getting worse and worse everyday. If we’re not gonna start her chemo therapy right now, we don’t know how long she can stay. Her body is getting weak.” the doctor said to my parents. The doctor left then my mom hold my hands, “I’m truly sorry about what happened Hailey. I want to give you a normal life. I want you to have fun without worrying about your health.” she apologized. “We’re going to Louisiana next week for your chemo therapy.” she added. “But mom how ‘bout my life here? How ‘bout my graduation? My friends? How ‘bout Alicia? …show more content…
You have to tell him everything and you have to be honest” Alicia’s advice for me before they dropped me off. I came out of the car and I started looking for Nathan. I saw him sitting in a bench next to a tree. “Nathan!” I called him. “Oh hey Hailey let's go?” “Let's go where?” “Uhm I prepared something” then he blushed a little. We started walking towards a table that has flowers, foods, drinks, plates and etc. He handed me a bouquet of rose, I remembered he used to tell a red rose represents his love for me. I thanked him then I sit on the chair. He put a bread and variety of fruits on my plate, he also gave a cup of tea. “Do you want something else? I’ll buy it real quick” he offered. “No I'm fine, I ate breakfast already.” He started eating so I started eating my food as well. Both of us didn't talk of a good 15 minutes, it was extremely …show more content…
Why did you leave?” I put my tea on the table and I cleaned my lips before answering him, “I was in Louisiana, I have to stay there for some reason.” “Why you didn't tell me? Why did you just leave?” he asked. “I had to do that Nathan. You won't understand.” “Then help me understand it. Explain it to me please. I wanna know what happened. Is it me? Did I do something wrong? You didn't have to leave. We could’ve fixed it Hailey.” he said very confused. “I had to leave without telling you Nathan, because I didn't want you to wait for me. I want you to have fun and enjoy your life without me.” I tried to explain. “Without you? How do you expect me to have fun and enjoy without you? You're my happiness Hailey don't you understand that?” “Well you have to learn how to live without me Nathan.” “What? Why? You're gonna leave again? And what? This time you're not coming back?” “You're right Nathan. Maybe this time I won't come back. You should find someone else that won't leave you.” Then I look at him and I saw in his eyes that I'm hurting him so much. “Find someone else? Is it that easy for you to say that? Or maybe because YOU found someone else” he said emphasizing ‘you.’ “No Nathan. Please calm down.” “Almost 3 years Hailey. You left for 3 years. No emails, no letters, no text messages, no calls, no nothing! You even changed your number. And now you're telling me that I should look for someone else?” He

"Okay. Thank you," I said. "Anytime. Love you," she said. "Love you too. Bye," I responded as I hung up. I unlocked the door and opened it. When I stepped out I noticed Val was standing in front of the door. "Why are you up," I asked. "You never bring you phone to the bathroom and when you do it freaks me out," he said. "Okay?" I said. He looked me in the eyes for a second and the said," do you really not want to get married?" "I...I don't know," I said. "Well it's either all in or all out. I'm not going to be in a relationship where your not 100% committed," he said. "Val," I said as tears formed in my eyes," just give me some time to think please." "No Jen if you aren't going to be committed, how will I know if you'll even show up for the wedding?" He said angrily. "You know what if you don't give me any choice in this, we're through," I said. "Here's your stupid ring. Now get your stuff and get out," I screamed throwing my ring at him. He went into my room and packed up all his stuff and walked out, slamming the door behind him. When I heard the door close, I knew it was over. I fell down and sobbed. A few seconds later I felt someone come hug me. I looked up to see Addison. I fell on her and cried…

It was October third a thursday night after our freshman football game. Lying in bed, not able to sleep, I hear the doorbell ring and parents going down stairs. Peaking my head around the corner to see who it could be at 11:03 pm. Just to see two state troopers standing in the doorway. My mind and heart automatically beginning to race, and my heart instantly dropping. To hear “I'm sorry to say but your son has been killed in a car accident in Ames Iowa”. A devastating night I will remember forever. With emotions being spilled and tears being shed it’s hard to stay strong for each other in that specific moment, but I know that I have to be there…

Other personal experiences include two of my siblings, both served in Iraq, who were exposed to enemy gunfire while serving. I lost my grandmother eight years ago, who was my rock in every possible way. My grandmother was diagnosed with Leukemia, which she kept from everyone in my family until two months before her death. I believe family stress developed due to her sudden death. Aside from family stress, I personally struggled with my grandmother’s death, who reflected as a woman with great strength and lots of wisdom; who also taught me values, honesty, and community. Further, five years later, in the year 2009, I lost another family member to gunshot violence, who was shot in the head and died instantly; this family member was also…

As a radiation therapist, I treat cancer and other diseases by administering radiation using a machine called a linear accelerator. It is my job to simulate, schedule, and treat patients as well as being empathic to my patient's concerns and easing any anxieties they may have. I image each patient daily using either two-dimensional or three-dimensional x-ray imaging prior to their treatment to localize the treatment volume before I administer their radiation treatment, this ensures accuracy of the treatment delivery and avoids healthy surrounding tissue. It is crucial that I accurately maintain daily treatment records and daily QA to make sure the machine is running properly. Although at times it is difficult for me to treat terminally…

Phoebe always gave the nurses that visited me a terrific time, which ended up having the nurses take care of me like i was the president. She left her latest story on my bedside table. Hazel Weatherfield got shot in the leg, but still somehow managed to fend off a mob of gangsters with an empty revolver. Of course, I found that impossible. My mother eventually to see me, along with the Phoebe and D.B. We had a long talk, and I don't feel much like talking about it. I remember she started crying at one point. I got up and gave her a hug. D.B. and Phoebe joined in quick. It was the least phony thing you could imagine. I told her that everything would be fine, and that we were all here, Allie too. That made her smile. She looked me in the eyes then kissed me on the cheek. She was still crying, but I swear they were tears of joy. What troubled me though was that Dad wasn't there. He's never there for these rare moments. That worried me a little bit. I felt like I should have worried about it, or at least pretended to worry about it, but I didn’'t. Come to think of it, Dad is hardly on my mind nowadays. He's on my mind even less that he used to be when we were normally together, and that was pretty low. Don't ask me why, because I can't explain…

It was a huge white building with red big letters SOLCA (Society that Fights Against Cancer in Ecuador). Angels dressed in white called nurses and doctors were there, ready to fight along with you, women coming and going. The process to treat cancer is not an easy one, it is painful, my body got weak; it seemed I was worse each time. The feeling that I would not recover invaded my heart and my mind. Some days I felt just fine, others strong enough to get out and conquer the world, but for the most part of the time, I felt awful and pathetic. However, on the funny side, I did not have to go to work, not to be concerned about looking beautiful everyday, not to worry about the hairstyle, those were perks for me as a woman, I had enough on…

I remember that cold November like it was yesterday. It was so cold that I felt the breeze going through my skin. I remember waking up to my mom and sisters crying. I can tell that my father was trying his hardest not to cry. I’ve always felt safe at home, it’s a place to feel peace and joy with family but this was different. I just wanted everything to be like the normal days where my mom fusses at me for not waking up earlier for school or forgetting to do the laundry. Everybody was so sad but trying there hardest to be strong in front of me. Everybody surrounded me as I was getting ready, it seemed like they were following my every move. I tried my hardest not to cry or just fall apart because I know that it would only make things worse and break everyone into pieces. I had to remain strong and remember that I’ve been through this before and that God is always by my side. Sitting on the dining table was pointless; the food was just there for show. Nobody seemed to have an appetite. It seemed as if they were the one going through this tragedy but I can’t blame them. If anything happened to them, I would feel the same way. I had left my house a billion times before but that morning was by far one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. I kissed my sisters goodbye and told them to be strong for me and regardless of what happens, that they’ll always be in my heart. I have 3 sisters and not seeing there beautiful faces again would destroy me. Getting into the car was like moving to a new house. It was so quiet driving to the hospital with my parents. It was the longest drive of my life although I didn’t want the drive to end. I had to be strong though and remember that I am no longer 4 years old anymore. I was only 17 and I already been through this life trial before. Everything seemed to be playing in slow motion. I started to remember every childhood memory I had. I remembered the first time I…

"Awwwwww, daddy! I don't want to go to a new school AGAIN." He rolled his eyes when I started to whine again. "Hun, you have to," he said beginning to kneel down to come face to face with me. "I'm sorry cupcake. But I got a great new job here at Reno, Nevada. I'm sorry for always moving from place to place. But ever since the accident Hun...." "I know daddy. It's okay. But mommy's up in Heaven now, she's happy with grandma up there. Maybe they're making scarves!" I replied with a smile. Daddy smiled when he heard that. "Don't worry, mommy's watching out for you. She's right here. Okay?" he replied. I nodded. "Sorry cupcake, I have to go. Good luck at your first day of school, okay? Love you," he said then kissed my forehead. "Bye daddy! Good luck at your first day of school too!" "Ha-ha, thanks Hun. Bye." he said then left. I felt so lonely, ever since mommy went to Heaven, there's no one to play dress up with. Daddy said when she was coming back from a business trip, something happened to the plane she got on and mommy passed away. Even though all of us were sad and crying, we were just thinking of the fact that she's in Heaven now, and that's all that matters. And when I said to daddy good luck on his first day of school too, it's because he's going to school too! Like me! When I turned 4, mommy and daddy told me that they never went to college because they had me when they were young. They told me that they never regretted having me though. Before mommy died, daddy got accepted into a good doctor school! I was really happy for him. So today is both our first day of school! Yay! But what is cool too is that my friend Tristan is in my class too! He was always nice to me. Ever since mommy passed away, a lot of times we would play together in his playhouse! It's really cool and their…
