Maybe it’s over dramatic to say it saved her life, but it’s an underestimate to say it changed her life.
“I noticed that youtube didn’t really have someone like me speaking out. There was no South Asian representing, really.” Lilly says. “I hate playing the race card, but especially as a South Asian female, it’s really not talked about in my community at all, any type of mental illness.” Singh says. According to TeenVouge.com, Singh said, “When I was coming out of depression, I made one random video. It wasn't funny or anything, but just the idea that people I didn’t know were watching made me feel less alone that I’d felt in a long time.” “I really wanted to do something positive and something that reminds not only myself, but other people, that life has up and downs but, it can be beautiful and you can put yourself back up.” Singh says. Now Lilly is using what she has been through to start a campaign called Girl
Love.
