Personal Narrative: Corn Holes
Corn hole was the second thing I tried at Fall Fest. This game is not the most thrilling thing in the world. There were several people that were waiting to play because it was pretty much the only thing to do. I am not very good at it, which is weird because the only thing you have to do is toss a bean bag onto a wooden box that has a hole in it. I have never understood the corn hole rules so that didn’t help. The way to get points is by making it in the hole or if the bag stays on the board, but I don’t know how the scoring works. My bags always missed or bounced off the board anyways. I was going to play volleyball after corn hole, but there was no one else playing it so I just watched a bunch of other people play corn hole. Countless other

Robert Frost's “Acquainted with the Night” describes a life that is filled with depression caused by isolation. Many believe this could have been written from Frost's own personal experiences, since it is well known that he experienced a very sad life with the losses of many of his close relatives. This would have left him feeling alone and detached, therefore giving him the inspiration for this poem. When examining the title's literal meaning, one can see Frost’s illustration of how he is very familiar with these dark and lonely feelings that seem to come with the night. The night, and these feelings, are nothing new to him. He uses an exceptionally descriptive setting, diverse symbols, and a unique style to develop his poem. In this poem Frost uses many symbols like the rain, the watchman, and the moon to illustrate the speaker’s depression, as…

My best Pecan Fest experience was last year. I rode the Zipper with Austen and Hayden for most of the time. My friends and I played all weekend and had fun. We bought lots of confetti eggs. They were very useful when we used them on other people. We also bought silly string and sprayed lots of people. We went on the Zipper at least 10 times. I went on the MI twice. I went on the Pharos Fury a couple times. I ran around the yard with my friends and we rode on lots of rides. I helped my mom with her booth and I got a lot of people to play the game. I also watched my little brother perform on stage. After that I ate some food and then went one the Zipper. I felt so sick after. I got some water and I went home. The next day we went back to the…

In Defense of Food was quite shocking at first. In all honesty, it made me think I was going to die within the next week due to a heart attack triggered by all the junk I eat. Considering I myself indulge in processed cookies from the aisles of Stop and Shop, and steak tips that have been marinating in salt for two days, the film hit close to home. But in all honesty, I don’t eat that bad; in comparison to the Seventh-Day Adventists I do, but I think I’m doing alright.…

It was a ferociously gloomy day in the heart of Center City. The time of the observation was from 11:43 am to 12:43pm. Sandwiched between 15th street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard is the Philadelphia's Municipal Services Building and within the plaza of the building lies Board Game Park. Even in the rain, the park was festive. Upon arriving, it began to drizzle. The drizzle was light enough for me to sit by a statue that was composed of multiple bodies piled on top of one another. The noises heard ranged from rain dropping, to horns honking to people laughing or shouting. In the surrounding area of the Board Game Park is Love Park with its remarkable LOVE sculpture and fountain, which was spewing pink water in support of Breast Cancer Awareness…

Even though I wasn’t your typical toddler, how could I have been so stupid? I may have been an utterly curious rug rat, maybe even more. However, once an idea popped up in my pint size brain it stayed there….Until I tried it. Most things weren't terrible. They were just average ideas that most toddlers think of. Just like they say in the commercials, “Kids discover the world with their mouths.” Another example of this is like biting the table because its looks like a humongous cookie. In most cases this was true. In my case, it was a little more extreme.…

One day while walking to school early in the morning i noticed a penny on the ground and went to pick it up. When i picked it up my surroundings totally changed. Apparently when i picked up the penny it caused a worm hole through the fabric of space and time. I looked around me and picked up a newspaper and found it to be March 4th 1841 and president Harrison was just elected. I then traveled to Washington D.C for answers to find President Harrison and speak with him before he dies in office. I have exactly 31 days before Harrison dies and i require answers to get back home. I must hurry before the wormhole closes and i would be permanently stuck here. It was the 4th of April by the time I got there just before his inaugural speech to ask…

I started the experiment by ringing my doorbell. I waited an appropriate amount of time, and rang the doorbell again. This went on for maybe five minutes until the subject answered the door. I introduced myself and asked to come in. The subject was confused, asking “Why are you doing this?”, and having a general air of confusion. She finally let me come in, and I asked her name. She refused to answer this question, but introduced our dogs with the wrong names, then abruptly left to go to her room (her birds were out of the cage and had to be put back in). I waited for about ten to fifteen minutes in the living room, and then went up stairs. I knocked on her door and asked where the restroom was, and she directed me to the right door.…

To begin with, when I was a little girl I lived in South Central Los Angeles, California with my two parents whom the names are Arturo Ferreiro and Cynthia Contreras. We all lived in one small pink house with my grandmother named Yolanda Contreras. My parents worked so hard to move from the ghetto. My mother once said to my grandmother “ I don’t want my daughter to distinguish the negativity.” There were so many crimes around our area and honestly, it was dense to walk around the neighborhood without having a doubt that something was going to happen. The helicopters were always around our neighborhood which made our family in danger. In 2004, I attended to a school named 107th Street School and everyday after school, my grandmother would pick me up from school. After a vigorous day at school, my grandmother would ask me “ Leslie do you want popcorn?” I’d respond with “ Yes grandma I’d be really appreciated if you bought me popcorn.” Every time she would ask I’d get excited because we would get closer to the lady with the red shirt across the street, the smell would get stronger. The taste of the popcorn was so delicious because it wasn't just popcorn, but it…

If you dig a hole when you are born, and you add to that hole everyday chances are you won’t see the top when you’re 18. My hole is something I didn’t realize was a problem until it was too dark. My weight! For as long as I can remember I have been unhappy about the way I look. I kept telling myself I would make a ladder but after one more day of digging. In September of 2015 I finally stopped. I realized I was in too deep and it was time to change. I was inspired to change by a TV show named White Collar. The show stars a fit man who wears really nice suits. I have had a passion for suits but watching the show I realized how much better I could look in them. With some help from my parents I was able to begin eating healthy and working out.…
