Personal Narrative: Dickie Brennan's Bourbon House
Recently I had the opportunity to visit Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House located at 144 Bourbon Street for my grandfather’s 73rd birthday luncheon celebration. My mother selected this restaurant for its great seafood and authentic New Orleans dishes. She had booked a reservation for a party of seven, and this was my first time at the establishment. I thought it was going to be another French quarter hole in the wall restaurant with concrete floors and shoddy decor; however, I was pleasantly surprised.
Upon our arrival through the front door, we were greeted by the hostess. Looking around taking in the aesthetic and ambience of the place, we located some members of our party at the bar. We quickly joined them exchanging hugs and kisses. As I was seated I

People within the party were asked about additional condiments needed to complement their order. All orders were delivered and simultaneously served, piping hot and very aromatic to the table. I ordered the BBQ Shrimp Po boy and my mom ordered the half crab sandwich with a cup of corn and crab bisque. My God, the sandwich was so good. The 8inch french bread was crisp on the outside and soft inside. The BBQ shrimp were cooked to a delicious peak with a combination of spices and herbs that enhanced the flavor complimented by light mayo stuffed inside the French bread. As I anticipated, it was a feast for the palate, hot and exactly as I ordered.
As the plates were cleared and to go boxes issued, the dessert menu was presented to finalize our meal. Since it was my grandfather’s birthday, we ordered the Chocolate Pecan Crunch which consisted of dark chocolate mousse, pecans, salted caramel, dark cocoa glaze; a Seasonal Cheesecake and Crème Brûlèe complimented with Hot Tea, Decaf Coffee and Bourbon Milk Punch, which consists of a thick and creamy blend of milk, gelato, and Old Forrester’s bourbon for the table to

Scrumptious flavors and aromas accompanied a night filled with great music in Hennepin Avenue’s Famous Dave’s restaurant, where Tommy Castro and the Painkillers put on a show like no other. Tommy Castro lived up to his reputation of being former BB King Entertainer of the Year on Friday, October 7th, as he moved the entire crowd through his music and stories. This foot-tapping music was perfectly complemented with Famous Dave’s All American Feast, which consisted of mouth-watering ribs, flavor-filled corn, juicy country-roasted chicken, barbeque smothered brisket, crispy famous fries, bacon infused beans, creamy coleslaw, and godly corn bread. To complete the decadent meal and the night full of blues music, bread pudding and ice cream were…

The dining area of Rocking Horse Ranch was always hot and crowded during meal times, where the tired, overworked servers would bustle around attempting to provide excellent customer service for each and every inane request from the guests. I’ve heard that loud, hectic, quick-paced atmospheres filled with pretentious parents and scrambling children are almost calming sometimes. This atmosphere never brought me serenity; it gave me anxiety and stressed me out. Just the thought of sweeping melted ice cream cones off of the stained carpet and dry mopping the tiles floors gives me nightmares.…

We arrived to the restaurant and everything in it looked fancy. The sights were all bright because of the illumination of the place; everything was sorrounded with colorful lamps with different shapes, there were autographed pictures of what appeared to be various local celebrities who had visited the restaurant, such as José Feliciano and Ednita Nazario, the tables were decorated with red and yellow roses, Dean Martin's lovable music was comming out of the restaurant's speakers and the smell of garlic frying in olive oil in the air gave me that sensation that only good Italian restaurants can give to a woman with a great taste like myself. As we walked in the host politely saluted us and asked my date if he had a reservation, to which he replied "yes", after checking my date's name and last name in a thick, old, black binder with Italy's flag and the restaurant's logo on its cover the host walked us to our table. The service was great, I can tell because only a few minutes after taking our seats the waiter was with our menus and offering us drinks. My date comfortably asked for the wine of the house, because apparently he already knew the place and he was eighteen years old, the legal drinking age in Puerto Rico, when the waiter turned to me and I got nervous, because at that time I never had a drink of alcohol in my life, not even a drop, so I…

As we entered, there was a reservation for us in the best place. It was near the dance floor. The restaurant was wide; the walls were made of varnished brown bricks and the lights were spotted on the tables, which made me feel very comfortable and that I was surrounded with romance. After we sat and ordered dinner he took me to the dance floor. As we were dancing he whispered the most beautiful words telling me how much he loved and cared about me, which showed me how tender, and romantic he is. After we finished eating we kept on talking till time took us and we had to leave. He paid the cheque then we left.…
