Personal Narrative Essay On A Real NBA Team
It all started when we were 12 years old. Jovan, Kaleb, Easton and I had been best friends ever since we were kids. We always dreamed about being on a real NBA team. It finally happened in 2024. We were the top rated prospects in the draft. Going 1, 2, 3, 4 in the draft. We all got drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder who had been worst in the league 2 years in a row. After they drafted us, we got a Power forward and a good bench unit. This season was looking bright.

We went 72-10, tying Michael Jordan's bulls for most wins in a regular season. Our team was rolling right into the playoffs as the 1 seed. We had a first round matchup against the Golden State Warriors. They had a point guard named Steve Curry, who could really shoot the ball.

We faced the only team who had beat us twice this year. The Los Angeles Clippers. They had amazing 3 point shooting along with a point guard and center who would throw opps like crazy. Along with the best Power Forward in the league, Ben Griffin. Our gameplan was mainly around stopping him. We came out rusty in Game 1, but eventually went on winning by 4 behind Jovan's 28 points and 9 assists. Game 2 was a close game till Jovan hit a 3 pointer with 5 seconds left to put the nail in the coffin. We knew Game 3 was going to be tough on their floor. We fought hard till the end, but lost by 3. We knew we had to win game 4, and that is what we did. We outscored them 63-41 in the second half, winning by 8. Game 6 was on our home floor, so it was a must-win situation. Jovan ending up having 46 points, 12 boards, and 8 dimes. We celebrated but know we had a tough team to face in the Cavs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were the number 1 seed in the East, going 63-19. They had the best player through the last 10 years in Lebronda James, along with one the league's upcoming point guards, Kevin Irving. They had the second-best scoring bench unit and one of the top power

After what was a disastrous Game 3, the Golden State Warriors seemed to have gotten back into the groove. In a game that seesawed leads between teams, it was a big win for the Warriors when the team managed to come back roaring in the second half. The game ended at 108-97 in the Warriors’ favor. It was not exactly the blow-out win of the earlier games, but it definitely made the Cavalier’s hope for winning a lot more distant.…

While this looks poorly on the players I believe it was ultimately the coach’s fault in how he managed the team. I did not fit in well with the team due to the fact I highly respected the coach and what he were trying to accomplish. This lead to coach giving pretty demanding roles on the team that caused a lot of stress for me. This is how I experienced Hindrance Stressors. While I experienced all three stressors but the main one that affected me was Role Overload. My role and goal going into the season last year was to lead my team in scoring and be a dependable offense player. I ended up with several other roles due to the lack of work ethic my teammates showed. I became team captain and was also given many other roles that coach wanted me to accomplish on the court. This lead to me become overwhelmed and failing to complete some of the roles I was giving. My stats for that season suffered and my scoring went down. I simply had too many roles that I couldn’t…

One theme that the film uses is teamwork, at the beginning of the story the team weren’t playing as one unit but as a group of individuals, this resulted in the team losing most of their games in the previous years. When Coach Carter took over he taught them that teamwork will always beat a team of individuals, he taught them to pass the ball to each other rather than continuously shooting, he also punished the team as a group rather than singling out each individual. This made brought the team closer and taught them some discipline.…
