Personal Narrative Essay On Cheerleading
Have you ever had a feeling that you were meant to do something ? That you couldn’t have been made for any other purpose in this world... For me , that was cheerleading. It was my second year at rochester and I had been in dance but quit when school came around. I felt a little out of place, or maybe more than a little but my cousins went there so I had someone at least. My mom had talked to my aunt and she said that Courtney was starting cheer and I could be on the older girls team as well. Little 6 year old me was scared at first , considering the thought of being with girls 5 years older than I. A panic ran through me, I wasn’t sure what to do with myself. “ Give it some thought, “ said my mom “ Court will introduce you and you’ll make friends easy. You are a very sweet girl.” I didn’t answer. Over the course of the next several days I gave it a long hard thought. I still wasn't sure what I was going to do. Having my …show more content…
Thinking to myself “ How could she do this to me ?” I freaked out and told my mom we had to go back but she wouldn’t budge. She said this would be good for me to see what they were like and that it would help my decision on whether I wanted to do cheer. Once I finished my huge dramatic crying fit, full of the “ why are you doing this to me?“ “ Can’t we just go back?” “I won’t ever forgive you for this!” , was over I ventured inside the house. As soon as I walked in they all rushed over to me. Questions were being thrown at me, left and right. I didn’t know where to start ! Courtney grabbed my arm , took me into the living room and sat me down on the couch. She introduced my to each of the girls “ This is Kenzie , Olivia , Jenna , Lauren .... ect. “ Leaving my with my mind racing trying to place names with faces. Once we settled down and the girls all got a chance to talk to me, I had pretty much set my mind on doing cheer. Now I just had to tell my mom and get this show on the

In the past three years, the NFL has faced a multitude of lawsuits dealing with the unfair payment of NFL cheerleaders. Multiple different articles support the cheerleaders, agreeing that an average of a $1,000 salary each year is unfair. However, other articles are against a higher payment, claiming that cheerleaders work because they enjoy the sport, rather than for the money. While Megan McArdle’s article, “NFL Cheerleaders Don’t Do it for the Money” uses informal diction, comparisons to other jobs, and concession to the opposition to support the claim that the cheerleaders do not deserve to be paid more, “Who Do We Under-Compensate?”, by Ira Boudway, uses a more formal diction, statistics, and concession to the other side of the argument to support the opposite.…

Now if you’ll excuse me, i’m taking your man, and later the title of ‘cheer captain’” I grabbed Isaac's hand and turned away from her walking to the tops of the bleachers. “You’re a fiery little thing aren't you?” He laughed and laid his arm around my shoulders. Asriel looked up at us and stared, as I smiled and grabbed his hand making sure she could see. “You know, she's always jealous. Even when no one does anything wrong. It drives me insane.” he frowned a bit and i felt my heart drop. “You should change that Isaac, you’re handsome, so smart, athletic and funny. You deserve so much more. She’s a witch, to you and everyone else.” I turned to look at him and he was already staring at me. “I- i’m sorry if i offended you Isac, it’s ju-” He cut…

In my opinion I think that Cheerleading should be a competitive sport because cheerleaders work as hard as all other sport players do. For example cheerleaders show muscle, athleticism and agility when practicing and cheering at games. Cheerleaders show muscle because they lift other people they throw and stack people on top of other people to make a pyramid. They show Agility because when doing cheers they have to make sharp and quick movements with their hands and their feet. I don’t think that it’s fair that cheerleading isn’t a competitive sport because it doesn’t involve a ball. That is why I think that cheerleading is just as much as a sport than any other…

When a person thinks of the word ‘sport’ their minds go to the big three: baseball, basketball, and football. Webster’s dictionary defines a sport as “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.” Most activities are either a sport or they are not. It’s simple, but there is one that tends to confuse people, cheerleading. People cannot agree on whether cheerleading takes on the task of being a sport. A reason some people may not know might be a result of them not understanding cheer.…

A sport is defined as “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature” (Dictionary.com). Someone can’t roll out of bed and be an amazing cheerleader. Cheerleading is an activity that takes massive amounts of skill and physical prowess, but on July 22nd of 2010 Connecticut Judge Stefan R. Underhill ruled competitive cheerleading as not being a sport. Considering the physical demand of the activity, the court system should reconsider competitive cheerleading as a sport.…

At a normal summer camp, a few dozen fifteen-year-old girls wouldn’t be told to spend a night alone in the woods. Camp Cheerio isn’t a normal summer camp. I’ve been going to Camp Cheerio every summer since I was eight years old, and I’ve loved every second of being there. The summer before sophomore year of high school was the last year that I could be a camper. Part of being in your last year as a camper is doing CREW. The acronym “CREW” stands for Courage, Responsibility, Enthusiasm, and Worth. In CREW all of the last year campers do things such as team building, being a counselor for a day, hiking eleven miles to and from Stone Mountain, and more. However, the most significant part of CREW was doing Solo Night. During Solo Night, each…

Walters started off by asking me some questions about the mermaids in my room and why I liked them so much. So I was honest, I told her that they are different and unique because they have a tail. Then, we sat down on my bed and she said that I was very pretty and very special, which is something that I agree with. Once again she asked me a question that a lot of other people ask me. She said, “If people say to you are you a boy or a girl, what do you say?” I obviously told her that I am a girl because that is how I see myself no matter how anybody chooses to see me. I had to tell her about a picture that I drew when she asked if there was anything else in the room that I wanted to show her. I pointed to the picture and when she got up to get it, I told to her that the little girl was crying because she wanted to wear the dress to school, but Mommy wouldn’t let her. And now that Mommymy lets the little girl wear the dress to school she is happy. Accept that little girl in the end was me! Mrs. Walters talked more until I told her that I was ready to sing a song in front of everybody. The only song that I could think of came from Cinderella because that was the song we were singing in acting school these past couple of days. I tried my best to sing since I knew my voice was going to be bad because I was just coming off of a cold, but this is what I…

Most people say cheerleading is not a sport, but to me it is. It all began when I was four years old and my mom signed me up to cheer for the Harrisburg Packers. I was nervous at first, but then it turned out to be a lot of fun. Everyone on the team was tall except for me and one other girl. Her name was Tatum. The first thing I thought was that I was going to get picked on by all the other girls because I was so little and shy, but it turned out to be totally different.…
