Personal Narrative Essay: Pet Horse Armi
Life can be challenging sometimes. For example, I find it hard to read. When I pick up a book I lose the experience of the story, because I am trying to figure out how to sound out the words on the pages. Some people enjoy stories so much that they have a hard time putting the book down; I have never experienced that. I wish reading came easier to me. On the other hand, life can be joyful. There are three things that I am always grateful for, my horse Armi, food and my family. I am very glad I have a pet horse named Armi. I am glad I have him for three reasons. One reason is, he is super friendly. He is friendly because he will not bite people. Another way he is friendly is when ever someone comes up to his stall he will always

During my younger years, I developed a large interest in horses or more particularly the sport of ranch sorting. Around the age of seven I got my very first sorting horse, whose name was Skipper. Skipper was colored like the planet Mars. He was not the best horse for this sport, but he helped develop my skills. I started competing at the Vassar Arena every…

My family dog is a hairless Chinese Crested named Sid. He is a gray, white, and black dog with no hair except on his head, paws, and the tip of his tail. We rescued Sid 8 years ago from Detroit, Michigan. His owners left him outside in the freezing cold when they moved away. They abandoned him. Adopting Sid changed my life forever. By caring for him, I have learned loyalty, responsibility, love, compassion, and patience. These are traits I see and feel within him as well. I believe animals mirror God’s hope and love for us. For example, God wants us to forgive others who have done us harm. Sid has forgiven his original owners by moving beyond the shy and fearful dog he was when we first brought him home. He is a happy and joyful dog now.…

It all began when a was a little boy and all I wanted was a dog, for years I begged and begged, and still no dog. I felt as if I was incomplete without one, I had even written persuasive essays in school on why I should get a dog and waited and just hoped for it. Finally, when I was in 5th grade, I found a church ministry where we met once month and came up with ideas to raise money for the local rescue. During the meetings, we would also go for a walk, those who had animals would walk them. One time, somebody from the rescue came with one of the rescue dogs for the walk, which inspired me to go to the rescue and check it out.…

It was a relaxing day at home in the Helfman household. My mom was constantly jabbering on the phone, my dad’s eyes were glued to his computer working, and my brother was stuck to his bed and never got up. My brother, Danny had gotten into Syracuse University a few months earlier and he was ecstatic about the life he was going to make for himself. Danny and I got along well our whole lives, but we weren’t as close as some other siblings. This upset me because sometimes all I wanted to do was talk to my brother and get his advice. I have three dogs. My dogs Sadie, Tootsie, and Lucky are cuddly and soft toy poodles.…

Life is full of challenges. Regardless of age, whether two years old or eighty years old, life presents us with different challenges everyday. The challenges one faces will be the most important things they deal with at the time they present themselves. Sure we will have joy, sadness, good times, and bad times, but how someone deals with the challenges they face is what builds their character and creates the person they become. As a senior at Pleasant Grove High School I too have had to deal with the many challenges of life.…

I was never a dog lover. My kids always wanted a dog. I dug my heels in but eventually, they wore me down with chorus’ of “please can we get a dog?” Begrudgingly, I began looking for a dog. It was to be a Christmas present for my kids, an older dog, a trained dog. I knew that I did not have the patience for training and I knew that when kids say they will help; I knew exactly what that meant.…

I found that I spent most days fearing the worst and I struggled to see any positives to my life. I was always very active and I loved taking my dog Poppy for long walks in the evening. It was difficult for me to understand a person in my position getting MS. I felt like I was falling into a deep hole and there was no hope of a way out. I stopped leaving the house and I gained a lot of weight due to not being active which added to my low mood and hopeless feelings. My blood pressure went through the roof and that’s when I realised I needed to make some changes.…

I also think that it is impossible for a person to have a totally smooth and happy life; he will always face difficulties, frustrations and dissatisfactions in his life. When encountering frustration, if one can keep an optimistic, confident and open-minded outlook, like myself, he will be able to change an ordinary, boring life into a rich one full of bright and positive emotions, a difficult life into a relaxed one and even the suffering into beautiful and precious experiences.…
