We were given a lecture by our Deputy Headmaster at Canon Kituri and asked us to compare our lives with a person in a boat. The question was ‘What were we planning with our lives or we were just sailing without oars and without knowing our destination. It was such a powerful message and we were left to digest it for a couple of decades.

Our local church, Rock Church had organized for a fundraising. It was such a colorful occasion. We enjoyed good Gospels music from or youth, Elders and invited guests from a church in Nairobi, Pentecostal church in Gikombaa.

Nearly a week after it happened Kenyans from all walks of life and the world were in a state of shock. How could a mob of high school boys in a nearby school go on rampage, enter the neighboring girls’ dormitory and rape 71 girls and cause the death of 19 other girls. But happen it did and as the country reeled with grief and shock after that Education and Behavioral experts were asking was it ready, so unexpected considering the worsening of school riots in the country. ‘And who was to blame’ and what is to be done to curb school riots and ensure tragedy like St. Kizito’s does not happen
