I looked up at him with irritation and half yelled, “Are you kidding me, you can’t just take my food like that, you need to ask before you dig your grubby, little hands into my food”. He dropped the strawberries back on the plate and burst out, “wow spaz, it’s just a strawberry, and you don’t help out with anything around the house anyways”. I was fuming with rage and we each shot a few more degrading comments at each other until he finally stormed outside to go take down the Christmas lights just as dad asked him to do earlier. Throughout the game I could still sense the agitation between Alex, my dad, I, as we covered up the awkward silences with burying our noses in our phones in between the periods. To end the afternoon on a high note, the gophers played an outstanding game and beat Wisconsin in overtime. We all left the stadium in high spirits, reminiscing over the great plays and overtime goal. At the same time, we were exhausted from a long day and ready to head home and watch the girl’s State Tournament championship game. At home, I immediately flipped on the game and sat on the couch with my head fixed downward looking at my phone, as my dad found his usual place on the couch, and my brother found his usual place in his room. It wasn’t long until my dad and I got into an argument over a letter I had accused him of throwing away, which I ended up finding on my desk under a pile of papers, and he then told me I had just ruined his night with my selfish needs while he only wanted to sit down and relax to watch a hockey game. We didn’t talk to each other for the rest of the game. By the end of the game my brother had come out of his room and my dad told us we needed to talk as a family.
