My summer was great, I think this was the best one I ever had. The reason why that this year was the best summer ever was because I got to do everything that I wanted to do. I love my grandpa and my mom because I go to do everything that I wanted to do. Everything that I got to do was from them I got the money to go to Cedar Point from my mom and grandpa, and to go to the Luke Bryan concert. My summer was amazing and here is why.…
Last summer my family and I saw niagara falls, we put on yellow raincoats and rode on a tour boat, maid of the mist , up the river below the falls. As the water thundered around them, the guide told them that Anna Taylor a daring schoolteacher was the first person to ever ride over Niagara Falls in a barrel. My stomach turned upside down as I imagined her plummeting over the edge. Then I thought of our own teacher going over the falls in a barrel, I laughed out…
R Issue = There are several relational issues in this scenario. First Celeste and Laura really seem to think Jim the director has already made up his mind about hiring for the new position, and resent that he is asking them because they feel he’s already made up his mind. Second there is a difference of opinions between John, Keith, and Jim, and that of Celeste, Laura, and Karl. The difference of opinions has resulted in relational issues of taking sides within the team. “Relationship goals define how each party wants to be treated by the other and the amount of interdependence they desire (how they define themselves as a unit)” (Hocker, & Wilmot, 2014, p 77).…
There is absolutely nothing better than spending a week on vacation with your friends. Last summer, I went to the Free Lutheran Youth (FLY) convention. FLY is a large get-together where Lutheran teenagers from around the country meet and worship. Abby Ator, Lance Bengochea, Sierra Machart, Mariah Machart, Emma Pederson, Bryan Pederson and I go to Bethel Lutheran Church; we decided to fundraise and attend the FLY convention. This year was the first time I have participated; the experience literally changed my outlook on life. The week I spent in Estes Park, Colorado, brought me closer to ten people who I never imagined would become my close friends.…
I remember the day vividly: the sizzling of food frying, children yelling, my tears running, it was the first time I adventured to Six Flags. The uneasiness of my stomach while swaying tens of feet from the ground on the Texas Giant petrified the adventurous spirit out of me. However, I did not realize that moment `would shape the next eight years of life, emerging in my memory at every unfamiliar experience I faced. It was my senior year when I declined an invitation to go camping with my friends an epiphany struck me. How many of these opportunities was I going to skip out on due to my reluctant manner?…
As a student I find myself seated in front of a computer screen for long hours at a time; likewise, it is my obligation as a student to use technology as a resource to further my comprehension in my degree. In my opinion a good excuse to be seated in front of a computer for long hours. It is easy to say that I find a lot of inspiration form online sources, blogs, and social media – which I do – however, I feel most inspired when I step away from the computer screen. I find inspiration in the ordinary; I love to travel and see new things, in this case this is where I found my inspiration. Along my travels to Whistler Mountain in previous winters I saw a portion of land that was clear-cut, but one tree stood alone covered in snow. This piece…
“In the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain.” said Jack Kerouac, author of On the Road. Many people live the way he describes, just doing everyday activities all their life. I want to do something memorable. Because of this, one of my dreams is doing a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail.…

Two days. Two days was how long the break between training for track, and training for cross country started. As a team our goal was to have the top 12 guys run 500 miles each, which at the time seemed to be an unreasonable goal. However Coach Hampton was confident that this was a reachable goal and encouraged not only the top 12 guys, but the the JV guys as well, to join in and train with the top 12.This was the summer of 2016, I had just had track state and made it to finals for the 4x8 only to get my relay disqualified because I cut into the inside lanes of the track before the cut off line. This had been our goal all season, make it to state, get to finals, and see what happens. Causing my relay to get disqualified is one my worst moments…
My Thanksgiving vacation could have been more enjoyable. I did a lot of working over break. Starting from the beginning, on Tuesday after we got let out of school, I drove all the way down to Des Moines because I had to work. I work at the Des Moines Buccaneers Hockey Arena, it’s a USHL hockey league that boys from ages 16-19 play in while trying to get scholarships to colleges they are signed to. My sister Kaylee and I worked in the Pirates Cove cleaning until around 7:00 P.M. Buccaneer clothing can be purchased in the cove. We had to close down and quit cleaning at 7:00 P.M. because an important hockey game called the Turkey Cup. Between two Des Moines high school hockey teams, the Oak Leafs and the Capitals. On these teams the boys age from, 16-19, although they are the…
"I don't know what to do. I have a husband and my family here, but the Nazis are taking power. I don't know if I can stay here any longer. I have heard about good things happening in America, so maybe I will go there," I explained to my family before I decided to leave my home country of Austria.…
It was 2009 and I had been in sixth grade for a couple of months. I was on the phone with one of my friends from school when my mom called through my door for me to come out into the living room. I ignored her and kept talking for a few minutes when she called me out again. I rolled my eyes and told my friend I would call her right back. I walked into the living room and it seemed odd to me that both my sisters and dad were all out there too. I watched my mom take a deep breath with my dad by her side. As she began to speak her voice shook and gloss covered her eyes. “The doctors found a lump in my last mammogram.” she said. “It came back as cancer. I’m going to have to get treatment but I’m going to be okay.” No one else said a word, we all…
I couldn’t sleep all night tossed and turned in the bed, even tried meditation! Currently, I am on winter break in a different time zone and my routine changed. To be hones I was dreaming for this time, to sleep and wake up anytime I want. Yesterday, I fall asleep on the sofa while my little niece playing with mother and there was a considerable amount of noise which usually I can’t bear it. No matter how much my little niece was play her cute cards to wake me up with kisses, I couldn’t opened my eyes. There is a fatigue in my body even though I didn’t do anything physically to force me but it seems the stress of the semester and also helping my bestie to move out should be the source of fatigue. Instead of rolling inside the bed, I came to…
