Personal Narrative: Fencing
“Taylor, what is that on the fence?” My sister asked me as we were walking off of the bus. I looked where she was pointing and saw my goat, Divinity. I knew that it didn’t look right, so I started running towards her. As I got closer I realized that her leg was stuck in the fence and she was in a great deal of pain. When I got to her she looked up at me, like she knew I would be able to help her. I was so scared because I have had her since I was 7 years old, and I didn’t want to lose her. I had to figure out how to help her by myself as my sister was sitting there crying, not helping whatsoever. I got down close to her and told her that it would be okay as I examined her leg. It became obvious to me that I would have to cut the wire so that she could get free. It was hard to think clearly because I just wanted her to be okay. …show more content…
When I got there I cut the wire to get her out. After she was free from the wire, I held a towel to her leg to control the bleeding, and then I called my mom who is a veterinary technician. She said to keep her warm and keep pressure on the wound. After my mom got home, we took Divinity to her work to see what was wrong. It turned out her leg had to be amputated. Everything worked out in the end and Divinity ended up with an extra five years of exciting goat life. It was that moment that I helped Divinity, that I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I wanted to help animals, and that has shaped my character in the best way. I have taken to helping animals by fostering them and pursuing a veterinary career. By pursuing a veterinary career I hope to always be prepared for the next time I get an “what’s stuck in the fence”

So once I had her name I had to figure out what I was going to do with my other heifer Mady. The only thing I could think of is what if they don't get along. At first when we opened the trailer door Mady came running up like a bull in the rodeo ring, and as soon as they meet they started to buttheads. At that moment I feared that they were going to never get along, but then they started to walk around and from that point on they were best of friends. That was the day that I need to start getting ready for shows. The next day I was outside working on her feet, her hair, and how she worked with a stick. That day I realized that what doc told me was true, and that was that she has never had a person work hard as need to get her show…

I was a Freshman on the Salem Varsity Gymnastics team, and practice consisted of preparing the team for regionals. An unknown pain in my back wound me up in the trainer's office for an hour of the two and a half hour practice. After finishing the season strong, even though I wanted to give up countless times, pushing myself to work through the pain paid off at regionals. Even though I should have stopped because I made the pain and recovery time longer, I refused to give up on my team the week before regionals. The minute season ended, I decided to go see my doctor, he said I pulled a muscle, and the solution was rest, heat, and ice.…

My breath is soft and slow, and the only thing that I can hear is the faint howling of the wind. I pull back the string and wrap my fingers around the arrow. I aim and let loose. The arrow flies and hits right on the target. Archery is one of the things that I live for, as well as soccer and listening to music. My culture is what I do on a day to day basis and what is a large portion of my life.…

The most memorable thing that happened to me was when I first discovered what I’m really good at. I came across inspiring Youtube videos of old classic Roller Derby and recent ones that were published only a year ago, I knew from the moment I laid eyes on those quads that I had to try it. In less than two weeks I was a complete natural at skating, I was all about skates. I practiced all the derby stances, exercises, techniques you name it I am absolutely in love with this sport. but as much as I fantasized about doing it I never thought that I’d actually get the chance to be part of their world and have training by the Derby Dames Juniors Freshmeat Association crew, which are ranked the top thirty-one in the united states!…

I was sitting in my freshman geometry class, talking to some friends about injuries. We were talking about how none of us have ever gotten injured in our entire life. I had been playing sports since I was in the sixth grade, and nothing ever happened. In my life I had never broken a bone. I had never even sprained an ankle. I had never worn any kind of brace, taped an ankle, or talked to a trainer about any muscle issue or pain issue. When kids would lay on the court, I always thought they were fine or looking for a little attention. My thought was that they needed to rush off the court because they were dripping sweat all over the hardwood floor, and they were taking too much time up. I used to assume they were killing our momentum when they would fall down and cry because some schools…
