Personal Narrative: Football Internship
For the month of my internship it was like going down memory lane, except more of in a coaches position. It's a day by day process from Monday to Friday that I go in for the internship. Everyday I wake up at 5AM and I arrive before the players get to the weightroom before weightlifting. The first day that I started was to make sure all of the cameras were charged up before I began anything. The next thing I do is check to see what workouts that are being done today so that I can know what to record and what not to record. The reason for that is to show off different workouts so I can show how the team have developed over time from the beginning to the end. Once weightlifting and winter conditioning is completed for football, my job is to create a video of Walsh Universities football teams workouts and use it as a time-lapse to show them at the beginning of spring workouts until the end. The recording is like a building process for them. It's showing all of their accomplishments and their work effort that they are doing to prepare for the upcoming spring ball. As I do that, I'm also put into a coaches perspective with the players. Since I am a past player, I understand and know what they are going through to prepare for spring football. As I record them doing their workouts, I also communicate with them so that they can understand what they are working for and different ways they can improve. I'm also recording some mistakes and mishaps that I …show more content…
How this media internship applies to that is the process of developing a image for the team which is the same way that video advertisement is done. Both video advertisement and my recordings have an objective, and that's to leave an image in someone's mind of what they are watching. Once the recording process is done, then I will take my editing skills to the video and make it into a video highlight for the team to show of the hard work that they

I can remember when I did my undergrad internship at a rehabilitation center; the Physical Therapist explained to me that if a person has ruptured their Achilles tendon, calf raises were one the best exercises. This exercise was potentially one of the best due to it strengthening the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles. He also explained that many runners should focus on strengthening exercises, simply because of the wear and tear running they are more susceptible to this type of injury.…

I play quarter back for Pensacola Catholic High. To me football is one of the biggest adrenaline rushes you can get. The game is fast and I like that. When I play football I feel unstoppable and I love it. When you play quarterback the game is in your hands and it is up to you to lead your team to victory. You have to make sure your team is focused and prepared. You have to be a good leader to play quarterback. If your team starts loosing you can’t just act sad and give up. You have to do the right thing and give your team a pep talk and tell them to step up their game like a good leader would do.…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

“Swish” as the ball goes through the net. The crowd went wild in the stands as Adam shot the ball. Adam is a tall and brown curly haired boy, with wide hands up to eight inches long. Coach Smith was off his seat and sweating a lot. Coach Smith is a big, bald, and a tall man. The team was down by two, they had the ball. Seven seconds left, the clock was ticking. Two seconds left Randy, had shot the ball at the three point line. Randy is a hairy chimpanzee that loves to play basketball. There was no time left on the clock. When suddenly, the gymnasium was left in complete darkness, just before if everybody saw if the shot was good or not. When the lights turned backed on Randy was gone. Everybody was looking for him. All that was left was Randy’s hair…

On and off the field, I knew my role was to lead our class and team. From the weight room to the track, and even in the classroom, I lead by example and empowered others on a journey unique to each person. Teaching freshman, and staying after practice to help those that needed it, helped me realize the uttermost selfish thing we can do is believe our actions only affect ourselves. Everything we do affects someone else for the better or for the worse. There is no other environment that lends the same leadership opportunities and experiences than that of a football. I can truly say that without playing football in high school, I would not have grown into the person I am today, nor possess the same intellectual characteristics. I am grateful for all experiences, whether seemingly beneficial or adverse, as it is the conglomerate of experiences that makes us who we…

By being told to quit something just because I’m not good at it. Back in my 7th grade year when I played football, I was pretty atrocious at everything basically. Trying to run routes against corners, catching, and trying to stay at 110%. I used to play Wide Receiver but they made me change positions because I didn’t try hard enough. They moved me to o-line and I was probably one of the worst players on the team. I only started one game my middle school life as a guard and all I really did was get embarrassed. Missing blocks, not pulling to get the DE, and forgetting the snap count. I didn't play football my 8th grade and my freshman year because my parents said that allergy season was gonna be awful. I was so close to not playing this year,…

I have had a diverse experience when it comes to the field of athletic training. Throughout my experience of obtaining many observation hours at the secondary educational level, assisting an athletic trainer at the collegiate level, and experiencing athletic training at the professional level with the Oklahoma City Energy Football Club allows me to have a well-rounded view on the role that an athletic trainer. Being a health care provider, athletic trainers must administer injury prevention techniques, evaluate injuries, manage and rehabilitate athletic injuries. There is a tremendous amount of instances where one must be able to quickly problem solve. These are the core tasks of being an athletic trainer, but my involvement in different athletic training environments has shown me that this is also about being…

This included checking every strap and button on our pads, making sure we had our shoelaces, and making sure everyone’s minor injuries were taken care of with the trainer. Normally we would have time to sit outside the locker room and hang out with all of our friends and joke around, but Coach Owens stopped that quickly today and made everyone go inside. As I walked into the quarterback meeting, some of our key plays were drawn on the board. These seemed all to familiar for me, because I spent the whole night before with Sam, our other quarterback, going over our playbook and knowing where everyone is supposed to be on the field for each play. The next meeting I had to attend was the special teams meeting. I was used to these since I had been attending these since my freshman year as a starter on varsity as both the kicker and punter. Everything was the same. Making sure every hole was blocked for field goals and punts, making sure no one over-pursued on kick-off coverage, and just making sure we got the kick off without getting it…

It was a Friday night in mid August 1991. I was a noseguard and middle linebacker on defense, depending on the play. I also played right guard on the offensive line. This is the story of a night that could of well ended any hope of being an athlete, on any level, from this point on. I will be telling the story from the defensive side of the ball, due to that is where I was playing when I had five vertebrae, slightly, separated.…
