For the parents, it is troublesome since it causes them to have weak relationships with their sons or daughters. Looking back to the past couple of years, I regret being rebellious. Nowadays, I the relationship between my parents and I is distant, but, when family moments occur, I resent the times when I planned to puncture the relationship further. When teens rebel, their actions create distrust between their parents which results in making the parents more protective than previously. The teens become enraged and choose to rebel and lie to a greater extent, widening the gap between parents and child, thus creating a downward spiral effect. Regaining trust is difficult once lost. I know from experience. A summer night I left with friends to watch a movie without informing my parents, knowing their decision would not have been in my favor. Bullheaded, I went anyway, lying to and ignoring my mom’s constant text messages to update my position. After the movies when I arrived home, my mom stood firm blocking the doorway and asked where I was. Ignoring her, I pushed through her stance and went straight to bed. Both of us knew I lied to her and ever since it has been difficult for her to believe me when I say anything. Even to this day she constantly asks questions on my whereabouts.
