Personal Narrative: Hi, Mr. Alston

Hi, Mr. Alston. It’s always nice to hear from you no matter how long it takes you to be able to write. You don’t have to apologize at all. I’m glad to know that you’ve been back to you activities as engineer, even though it was temporarily. I’m pretty sure you were glad as well. I guess some extra money could never do any harm, am I right? Especially in times like the ones we are living. Unfortunately things are not going so well in Brazil and I’ll have to postpone my plans of travelling abroad once again. The economy has been shrinking and we are in a depression for the first time in twenty years. However, I consider myself lucky that I still have my job while I have plenty of friends of mine that have lost theirs. Nonetheless
I cannot predict for how long…The perspectives aren’t good, at least in the short run. To make things even worse, we are living through a terrible political crisis. I guess you’ve been following the news and are apprised of our situation. Thus, this year I’m quite sure it’ll be impossible to accomplish any of the plans that I had in mind regarding my studies abroad. By the way, I want to thank you for your advice and tell that that’s exactly what I’ve been doing; since I’ve started studying English I’ve tried to study less grammar and more real conversation (just like I’m doing right now!). This e-mail may give you an idea about how well (or not!) I’m writing in English. I’ve done this on my own and I’ve asked no one to correct it.
