I believe in caffeine. I believe in caffeine because it keeps me alert, not quite awake, but alert. After a full night of studying, cramming on procrastinated homework, or just refusing to go to sleep, caffeine keeps you alert enough to be aware of the happenings of your day. But why would a 17 year old girl believe in caffeine, a chemical usually depended upon by truck drivers and stressed out adults working a daily 9-5? This is because of a 17 year old girl’s awareness of the time she has on this earth. I was told by my grandmother to never waste a moment of your life. Don't go to sleep, stay up all night. Make the most of absolutely every second of my day. To be thinking, living, and breathing in the hours that are the least attended by conscious human beings. I enjoy sitting alone, hearing myself breathe in perfect rhythm in the dark on those calm, lonely nights. Taking advantage of my brains unwillingness to go to sleep to think of late night ‘crazy ideas’ or using the silence to discover my own thoughts makes me feel like i'm not wasting a moment. I enjoy the buzz on energy of exhilarating, wild nights with my best friends at an hour that seems ungodly. Driving to get Wendy’s at 3am with the music blaring because that one person in the group just needed a chocolate Frosty, knowing that curfew is way past over and a ticket is inevitable if you encountered a cop, gives you a thrill that can only be describes as making you feel alive.
