Our government has not always been as successful as it is today. America’s government began with the Articles of Confederation and separate state constitutions. This was difficult. The country was not united. Each state took care of everything on their own and the national government could not do anything. Our country had no national money or militia. Traveling was almost impossible. There were very few positive concepts with the Articles of Confederation. Our present government is a federalism. This means there is equal power between the government and the people. Our government is divided into three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. We can find information on these federal branches in the United States Constitution. We find information on the state level of these branches in our Minnesota Constitution. Our government at the state and federal levels have many similarities along with differences.…

As a child, if someone told me that my first job would be in the food service, I would accuse them of lying. If they told me I would absolutely love it? Impossible, I’d say. It will never happen. Yet here I am, seven months into my first job at a bagel shop. I now work a job I never thought I would have, and it changed me in ways I never thought possible.…

It was a perfectly normal Saturday night, until I sat on the couch. I expected to enjoy a funny movie with my dad, but instead I got a trip to the hospital. I sat on the couch, and then I felt a sting in my elbow. At first, it felt like I got a shot at the doctor, but it slowly got worse, and felt more like a knife slicing into my elbow. I winced and sprung up from the couch. I squinted and my eyes scanned the spot where I just sat down. Aha, I thought. There was a small piece of plastic, and it looked like it broke off from a container.…

It was supposed to be a temp job. The deal was six months, then six months turned into two years. Although I could use the money I really didn’t want to stay. The job was a bit beneath my skill set. I have worked for big companies such as Goldman Sachs, Time Warner, as an executive assistant. I assisted 5 different bosses to land this job with mediocre duties. “Good Morning thank you for calling Blow Bart how can I help you?” What kind of name is Blow Bart anyways? It sounds very perverted. What the company does is fix appliances such as ovens, slicers, refrigerators you get my drift. So all I do all day is schedule techs to come out and fix peoples appliances. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to do it. What about Microsoft office? I spent so…

One of my most meaningful service opportunities was volunteering in the Utah Special Olympics last June. I spent the morning and early afternoon managing the Track and Field events of the Summer Games with friends and leaders from my church. This experience gave me a welcome change of perspective and an opportunity to focus on something greater than myself. On this day, I had the privilege of spending time with some of the kindest people I have ever met.…

After moving to interview the United State, I went to my first job interview as a caregiver. At that time my English was not proficient, I was not accustom to the American culture, and I was heartbroken due to the fact that I had to leave my family, and friends back home. During the interview, the interviewer asked me several questions regarding the patients that I will be caring for. One the question that made a bad impact during the interview was “if you caring for a patient with Alzheimer. How would you care for them?” Due to the fact that my English was not proficient, I was unable to respond to her in the appropriate manner.…
