My birthday falls on December 8, 1765 and my death date falls on January 8, 1825.…
I felt the stock of my bow while I was sitting in the blind. Frost had already began to form where I rubbed it off seconds ago. I looked through the small window at the everlasting snow. “Wait, was that a deer moving along those trees?” I asked myself. It looked more like a kangaroo making its way through the snow. I could barely stand up in the cold. I pulled back, ready to take the shot.…
i went to the park and played a game called hopscotch it was very fun i liked i so much. Next i played football with my brother and i scored 3 goals winning the game. it was a beautiful day very sunny and perfect for ice-cream so i loved it. i bought a chocolate ice-cream and mint it was extremely good. i also played on the swing and slide and i was very scared as it was very high i absolutely loved it! i was excited to have seen such an amazing park as this is the first time i had played in a park and it was a very good first experience other than someone falling of the slide and breaking their leg which resulted in the ambulance coming and i hate the nose of sirens. i also went home after i was very sad because it was so…
Doing the dishes and vacuuming the house are simple everyday chores, but adult tasks are like stepping into a whole different world. I have had some experiences stepping up into the adult world, and it was not easy.…
I'm not much of a dog-person. In fact, I'm pretty awkward around anyone, so creatures that crawl up and slurp all over my crotch are no exception.…
It’s midnight and as I expected, a black Ford F-150 Truck with tinted windows pulls up to my house. I walk outside holding a backpack with my portable speakers and a baseball bat. However, I quickly change my mind and leave the baseball bat inside the house. I hop into the back seat of the truck and am greeted by four large burly kids. “What’s up Matt?” says Ben who is sitting in the drivers seat. With music blasting, Ben takes off the parking brake and presses his foot down onto the gas pedal. Soon we are heading down dark winding roads as we listen to music from Captain Murphy, which contributes to our mischievous mood. Finally we arrive.…
About 2,500 miles east lies the cold and rainy city of Canton, Ohio. The majority of my childhood was spent inside the house as Ohio was not ideal for outdoor adventure. Although, after turning 6, I was introduced to snow skiing . It became an enjoyable hobby of mine for years. Skiing opened my eyes to the beauty of nature and the serenity it provided. I loved the smell of fresh air and the exhilarating feeling of gliding down the mountain. It is a very peaceful sport and provides a silence away from everyday life. Coincidentally, I learned of ski club in middle school where I could ski with several other students that enjoyed this exercise as well. I joined the club and looked forward to the weekly Sunday trips. It showed the importance…
A few minutes had passed since I last talked to Mrs. Morrow, it was getting boring. Mrs. Morrow made me think about old Ernest. How everyone hated his gut, but to his mom he was an angel from heaven. He would always tease you and make fun of your clothes and one time old Ernest and I almost got into a fight.…

One Saturday morning, I crawled out of bed and went downstairs to have breakfast. I looked out the window and saw a fresh blanket of snow which meant that it was a perfect day for snowboarding! About an hour later my brother, Jacob also came down and ate his breakfast.…
I can see the sun glistening off the snow covering the treetops as I glide down the mountain. Suddenly I feel a lot of snow sprayed on me as my dad speeds past in his usual perfect formation, as if he’s a slalom skier about to pass the finish line. He goes around a bend, following the curve of the trail, and skis out of sight. When I finally catch up to him I am shocked at what I see. My dad is getting up from a fall – he never falls – and both his skis and poles are scattered around the trail. In all his years of skiing, as far as I know, my dad has never been injured despite some careless falls. As I ski down to my dad I pick up his matching black skis and poles. I get closer to him and see a look in his eyes that worries me. I hide my concern and calmly ask, “Are you okay?”…
When asked to write about a childhood experience most people think of the time they lost their first tooth when they were 6, or about the time they started school when they were 5, however, I’m going to write about summer. It wasn’t just any summer it was the summer that I went to the lake with my Dad and Papa. I was about 4 and couldn’t be any more excited about what was going to happen…
Winter is coming. This week the temperatures plummeted from mid-nineties to the upper sixties in a flash. Every morning I leave for school around 6:30AM, this morning it was forty seven and - I was bundled up like a burrito. I suppose I can’t be satisfied because I always comment about the heat and now that it is cold, I am still complaining. When moving from a colder climate to a warmer climate it takes a little time, clearly, for your blood to thin. 2012 brought on the move from mostly cold and humid Pennsylvania to the dry inferno that is Arizona. I had not an inkling that I would ever think the sixties were cold. Here are my six realizations since I have acclimatized:…
I was able to attend MOVES in Minneapolis while visiting family. Parking was difficult, so I arrived late and missed most of In the Night. I had wanted to see Unity Phelan especially in this ballet. Maybe she'll dance it in New York.…
As Hannah knows, I had to take my car in for some unexpected repairs today so am a little short on money at the moment.…
