my family from this difficult circumstance by attending college and getting a better employment. I want to be a physician and change my life and family. Since I'm the first in the family to attend a college I have responsibilities in assisting my four young siblings and parents to have a better life. I will be able to aid them financially and support my siblings in pursuing their education. Also, I will want for my future family to have a better life than me. My parents work for low wages in Labor works with no college education and struggle with English. I want my parents to have a better life when they retire, and I want to give back because they struggled to raise my siblings and me. They went through many obstacles coming to the States for me to get an education. I want to make my family life a little better in reducing financial crises and investing in my siblings’ education. Besides living in the projects, I experience challenges being a Muslim. Growing up a Muslim in the 21st century as a young boy, I seemed to attract unwanted attention.
The challenging part about growing up Muslim is not only we are discriminated against, but not much seemed to be done to stop it. For example, I used to get made fun of like people calling me a terrorist due to my religion and linking it to terrorism. Also, I’ve seen my fellow Muslims harassed, mistreated made fun of and no one could step in and stop it, something that I want to change in America is how everyday Muslims are viewed. I tried to step in and explain to them that our religion has nothing to do with violence, it’s the way the people utilize it. I took actions by explaining to people about my religion, and that terrorism is not part of it. I want to create a positive image for the new generations that show Muslims, Christians or anybody else is equal. The thing I strive for is to have my future generations to live in a world where people are not targeted due to their religion. I want the new generations not to reflect on the wrongs of the world. Moreover, We should keep fighting against prejudice towards and hatred towards no matter what religion we worship. Finally, these challenges would not put me down, but it will push me to work harder and achieve my
goals.
