I have decided to lean to nursing as a career for many reasons. The main reason i decided to turn to this field of work was feeling the need to help people in a way that my younger brother was helped when he was in out of hospitals. During this time i joined the voulanteer morton fire department to get a grasp and sense of working under pressure while remaining calm. Alot of the times i noticed ifyou are in a flusttered sense of mind it is best to leave the situation to someone who is more capable then end up causeing the situation to get much worse possibly causeing someone to get hurt or death. Later on when i began attending south plains i attended and became vice president of the star center student organization for a short period of time…

My duty as a nurse is to promote good and do no harm and respect the patient as the most basic and universal principle. According to the code, my most fundamental accountability is to the patient. In addition, it is my duty to make the most wise and ethical decisions for what is best for the organization. As a leader, I am self-aware of my values and basic beliefs about the rights, duties and goals of human beings. Unfortunately, here utilitarianism of what is best for the common good outweighs what is best for the individual. Mr. Cole has the right to leave against medical advice and it saddens me the issues they may face being denied home health care, however, it is not justified to withhold information from the physician. I could be risking…

My goals for residency are simple – to continuously learn in order to educate and heal. Although I have been involved in the community in various ways for many years, I am truly excited to start giving back to society from a different perspective – that of a physician, of a person’s first stop in their most vulnerable of times. Family Medicine is a broad field that will challenge me in many ways, but I am ready to enhance my knowledge in a program that fosters learning through a supportive, team approach where patients and their futures are the greatest concerns.…

Suppose that you come across a newborn baby laying behind a dumpster. What would you do? Look the other way or decide to raise that baby as your own. Raising a newborn till they become an adult, takes a tremendous amount of hard work. It requires loving, caring, pleasing the baby forever as well as being able to clean the house, work for money, and lots of others. Once you get the hang of it becomes easier. Therefore, by being heroic throughout harsh-durations you attain the impression of comfort.…

This is another quote that focuses on the amount of women all over the world who are forced to last (through bad times) whatever harm comes their way. Not only in Afghanistan, but in every country, and every neighbourhood. This is an on going issue in the world that has been around for centuries and is one that is often times 'swept under the rug.' To me, this issue should not be over looked at all, and I would certainly like to see and take part in educating (communities of people) on women's…

When I was thinking about writing this journal post a particular experiences came into my head. I pushed it aside for the fact that it didn't fit the criteria for this journal. However, after struggling trying with writer's block, I gave in to my original thought. The experience I am going to be talking about doesn't fit the criteria of being a patient/nurse interaction because I wasn't with a “patient” or in a clinical setting.…

I think this is a tricky situation to give advice on. It depends on Paul and Ava’s belief systems, culture, economic factors, and what country they live in. In America, its common and expected that mothers return to work (full-time) after their maternity leave. According to the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) states a mandate of 12 weeks of unpaid leave for mothers of newborn and adopted children (United States Department of Labor, 2017). I think most mothers only take two months or three months of leave. America seems to be the worst for unpaid/paid leave for maternity leave. Just look at the data table provided in the textbook on page 155 concerning weeks of leave.…

I loved being able to walk into the classroom and see all of those children run up to me with smiling faces saying that they miss me, asking me if I will be staying the whole day or asking me if I could play or read with them. The first reward is my desire to work with young people. I want to interact with young people and help them learn and develop. Teaching is a satisfying profession. A national survey suggests that teachers as a group are satisfied with the profession and their level of satisfaction has increased in the last 25 years (Introduction to Teaching, 2007, pg. 5). When I was 16 years old, my grandma opened her very own government approved child care service. I decided that I wanted to help her but it was mainly because the 2 girls we had were really nice and polite. We had a girl who had just started the second grade and her sister, who was a middle school special ed student. I dedicated countless volunteer hours to helping them with their homework, creating learning activities and birthday parties for them . In a blink of an eye, the daycare had 14 kids and we pretty much had them 20 hours a day for 5 days a week.…
