Modern day three teenagers Once upon a time there were three teenagers. Their 18th birthday was coming up and that meant they had to move out of the house. Their mom warned them about a man that has been breaking into houses lately. The first kid, Antonio, bought a new house with a whole bunch of windows. The second one, Johnny, who had an old house with some windows. Finally the third one Justin, lived in a brick house with no windows. One day a random person came to Antonio's house and knocked. Antonio not Knowing who it was didn't answer. So the perplexing man said “open up or I will hunt you down and hurt you”. Antonio answered with “not on my watch” . She was born on a busy summer night on September 13th 1918 in Brookline, Massachusetts. I always had the feeling that Rosie was a little different from the rest of us. On the day of her birth the midwife arrived late, and my theory is that this action deprived her brain of oxygen. We were proven right when she failed to advance from kindergarten and was deemed to suffer from intellectual disabilities. When this happened our parents began to conceal their third child from society.…

The day of the eighth grade promotion was filled with mixed emotions. I was very nervous but also excited to be leaving middle school. I was mostly nervous because I would have to walk up onto the stage in front of over a hundred people. I didn’t want to go because of how nervous I was. The school day was uneventful. We went over what we were supposed to do in the gym multiple times. Even though the day was boring and uneventful, I was nervous the entire school day. In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey states, “Putting first things first also deals with learning to overcome your fears and being strong during hard moments” (Covey 106). In order to overcome my fear and stay strong I had to put first things first. I was worrying…

I learned a lesson all the way back in first grade, and that lesson has stuck with me ever since. I was coming in from recess, and I was talking to a friend of mine off to my left. Unfortunately, I was not watching where I was going. I kept barely taking glances of what was in front of me, and that was a huge mistake. Someone was running behind me, and wasn’t watching where they were going either. As I approached the building I heard yelling, but thought nothing of it. After all, recess had just finished, so obviously kids would be yelling, right? It turns out some kids had been playing tag, and decided to play until they got inside. One that was still running away, because God forbid he’d be “it,” was Nick.…

As most children grow up, they are aware of their surroundings and take in everything they can understand which adds to their personality and their structure of life. As a child I developed at a level more advanced than the children around me. I learned to use a computer at the age of 3 years old. I read at an 8th-9th grade level while in the 5th grade. In addition, I could handle complex situations better than a average elementary student. The mindset I had as a child unlocked new doors for me. For example, I was not afraid to try new things and accept the lessons that came along with new opportunities. Also, I learned from my parents that going down the path of success isn’t always easy. Lastly, I experienced that life is filled with…

Don't be afraid to start over it's a new chance to rebuild what you want. Three changes. That's all I have for the new year. These three changes I won't want to make, but will make. One I will work harder in school to get the best grades I can. Two I will work on my attitudes towards my peers teachers and family members. Three I will focus on one thing at a time.…

I’ve always had lofty, perhaps unrealistic. In middle school, I naively assumed that I would be in top 12% of my class, by simply making A’s. I tried my hardest in every classes, but still wasn’t enough. I never reached my goal of being in top 12%, as a result my self-esteem plummeted. I started high school with high hopes once again. Perhaps even more naively, I pursued the goal of being ranked number one. I was too young to realize the concept of “realistic” goals. My biggest obstacle was my state of mind. I brought my self-down. I told myself the only way to be the best is to be better than everyone else. Setting such a high goal did help me in the end. After the second semester of freshman year, I received my rank. I was ranked number 10;…

I am a communicator because everyday single day I ask questions and talk to people. Mostly questions to teachers because sometimes I don’t get it, but sometimes my friends because they might be confusing. One of my goals is to not wait until the last minute to do all my homework because sometimes there are a lot and I won’t be able to finish it in time unless I stay up extremely late. In order to avoid doing that, I will always ask my siblings or parents to keep reminding me to do my homework until it’s no longer a habit. My other goal is to be a better thinker because sometimes the best way to understand the question is to think deeply. My third goal relates to my first one and that is to always do my homework. Most of the time I’m very lazy and I don’t want to get out of bed just to do homework so I just leave it there. I will begin changing that goal by telling my brother, my sister, my mom, or my dad to keep…

One of my challenges was in my Sophomore year when I didn't make the varsity team because I was not in good condition. The other challenge happen in my junior year when I got injured a week before the championship game and I had to recover before the game. When I was a sophomore I tried out for the varsity soccer team at my school but I did not make it, because I was not at that level. Some of the reason I did not make it were ,because I was overweight, slow, not strong enough and would put too much pressure on myself so I was not able to complete a pass or a shot. Those were the things I needed to work on so I could become a better soccer player. I was really upset…

Growing up can be challenging even with the ideal surroundings. Your teen years are even more puzzling because you seem to be stuck in between being a child and an adult. Throw in not having a father or mother around and life gets difficult. The year 2001 was a difficult year for my family and the nation. My life growing up wasn’t picture perfect, but in one very long month I learned that kindness from those around will help you endure and survive.…

Throughout school, it seems to be all about what you wear, what friends you have, or what car you drive. Doesn't it seem so ironic that it's just a small bump you endure until you get where you are going. Where you find out who you are and what you dreamed of falls into place. Learners 111 and my OnCourse book have taught me so much I can hold onto for a lifetime. Through hands on experiences and so much more about personal stories others have wrote, I truly believe I've been pushed a little farther into knowledge I didn't know I had. By going into college it's seems like it's passed by in a blink and I'm already going to take on this new journey. By taking this class I’ve learned to adopt a creator mindset instead of a victim…
