She walked us one by one to our classrooms. I remember it was so early that I had to sit in front of my class waiting for me teacher to arrive. 7:20 is when class started. My teacher, Ms. Picken introduced me to the class. At the time, I had absolutely no idea of what she was saying, but I did remember my classmates said hello to me. Some even waved their hands with a smile of excitement on their face. While introducing me to the whole class, I looked around trying to find someone like me. Ms. Picken then show me to my seat. Once I seated, an Asian girl turned around and started speaking Vietnamese to me. I breathed a quiet sigh of relief knowing that I have someone to talk to in class. She told me her name is Ha and the teacher asked her to be my translator and help me with classwork.
In class that day we covered a wide range of subjects from language arts to social studies. During my first day of class, I enjoyed math and art time not only because those are my two favorite subjects but also because I did not feel like a burden to my friend Ha.
