Funeral Directors called the scheduling center to arrange times for Committal Services. When they do not get the times, they wish; they show up when they want causing conflict with previously scheduled services. These conflicts in timing created an inability to provide a standard of service commensurate with our customer service commitment. I

My visit to the cemetery was very interesting. When I first read the assignment sheet, I didn’t want to visit the cemetery. I thought it was scary to visit a stranger; it turned out to be very fascinating. When I got to Kewanee Cemetery I got the goosebumps all over my body; six crows following me around, watching every step I took. After a while, I was more intrigued about the headstones that I even forgot about the crows. I was curious about their lives and how they might of live in a time of war, but even though, none of them inspired me to write about anything, into I got across Edward Tunnicliff headstone.…

A peculiar but familiar sensation spread through my body. “It is a feeling of indissoluble connection of belonging inseparably to the external world as a whole.” The words from Freud's book whispered behind my ears like a gentle breeze cooling the heat of July in Rome which was burning my exposed skin. This feeling reminded me of my childhood.…

I’ve been told the impact of a parent’s passing can carry on for years or forever. I was my mother’s primary care giver for two years. In her last four months, along with hospice, I took care of her full time along with maintaining my full time job. She passed in her home surrounded by me and my other two siblings in January. Just three months later my dad, who was not married to my mom, died unexpectedly in his sleep. I am still in the tender times of grief from my mother’s and father’s deaths. Who would think I could fathom writing about such a sorrowful time in addition to writing about the lessons I learned from my mother’s last months and the graceful way she left this earth. I relive this not only because it is kind of…

As the single child in a family with working parents, I spent the most time of my childhood living and hanging around with my dog. This experience might be one of the reasons that I am very compassionate to animals and sensitive to people’s needs. My voluntary work is in a welfare house called Alenah's home. I love working there because I like seeing the smile face of the children there – even some autism babies don’t smile facially, I believe they can feel the love when being caressed softly.…

This week reminded me how amazing and important my job is. Friday was a busy day at the office; I was rushing to finish my work so I could leave on time. As I was about to leave I received a phone call from a hiring manager (Mark) with NOAA. Mark had questions about the interview process and was calling to speak to one of my colleagues. Unfortunately, my colleague was on vacation and wouldn’t be back for another week. I looked at the clock and realized it was time to go but I could hear the frustration in Mark’s voice. Instead of leaving, I spent almost an hour listening to Mark’s concerns, answering his questions, and I explained how the federal hiring process works. At the end of our conversation, Mark thanked me for my time and he told me…
