Personal Narrative: My Catholic Education
I have been blessed to attend Calvert Catholic high school since pre-school. It gives me the opportunities to grow up in my faith every day. When you walk in the door, you notice all the care and support that goes into making this school great. My Catholic education has taught me not just to appreciate solving equations algebraically, and conjugate Spanish verbs. It has made me the person I am today, enriched by the life lessons and moral teachings that can be found in Catholic schools today. It gives me the opportunity to learn about Jesus and go to mass once a week, with my class mates. We receive the sacrament of Reconciliation three times a week. Every day, we get the privilege to pray before we start every class. As a Catholic Christian,

My greatest influences are my parents and my brother. My brother suffered from Guillain- Barre Syndrome when he was eight. He lived in the hospital on an artificial ventilation for 97 days and later he had to continue physical therapy for at least ten years as he was completely paralyzed. My parents and my brother devoted their few years completely for his treatment. Today, my brother is a successful engineer working in the bay area. I learned that with dedication, determination and diligence we can achieve our dream in life…

My chapter of Alpha Phi Omega is Alpha Beta Zeta, located at Radford University. Each member is required to get 35 community service hours each semester. Service projects occur around the New River Valley and help a variety of community organizations. Because Alpha Phi Omega has a partnership with the Boy Scouts of America, we host many projects that allow us to help them facilitate big events. Projects I have worked on include: cleaning a local daycare center, performing trail maintenance along a portion of the Appalachian Trail, collecting food for Meals on Wheels, raising money for different causes, running youth programs for Boy Scouts and 4-H events, cleaning our Adopt-A-Spot, beautifying local parks, and many other programs. Over the…

The high school has given me all types of opportunities from discipline to study options and also preparing me for college and the real world. I’s truly grateful for all the supports given to get this far because high school helped changed and mold me to become the young lady that I is today. It helped further my education and I continue to pray to the lord above that I can stay on track because only God knows where I’m headed with this education; but for sure it’s for a better me. Hopefully my years at Concordia will be the years of…

This morning I attended a weekday mass at All Saints Catholic Church. The church itself is relatively large from what I saw. The exterior had many well-tended trees and bushes, with a sign pointing to the office, and a cross about six feet tall out front by a cement walkway which led to the entrance. The building itself was a taupe color with dark brown roofing and glass doors leading at the entrance. As I walked through the glass doors I was not greeted by anyone, so I followed what everyone else was doing. I noticed a holy water font in front of the doors leading directly to the room of worship. I watched as the casually-dressed Parishioners, all aged at least sixty-five years, and mostly white, middle-class women dipped their fingers into the font and then made the sign of the cross, before entering the worship area.…

Kathy, it appears you have gained valuable knowledge and learning experiences during your practicum internship thus far. Your review of goals and objectives are attributes that will facilitate further development of your leadership skills, how exciting! The insight that you provided through the nurse/physician communication and collaboration seminar was valuable knowledge for me to reflect upon in my leadership development. The remaining goals and objectives that you have outlined in order to meet the course concepts and finalization of practicum experience will provide additional attributes and skills to foster your journey in attaining leadership growth. The simulation lab sounds exciting and appears to have attained a positive collaboration with the right stakeholders to facilitate the evidence-based practice concepts needed to provide favorable educational guidance that is conducive to the organization’s educational goals.…

My group members and I chose to take on this topic of issue because we felt like it was and still is mostly overlooked today. Furthermore, we as a group chose this topic because we all had different education backgrounds and we thought that it would be interesting topic to look up more information on. In the group, I was the only one who had a Catholic school background. I had never been into a public school until I came to William Paterson University. Unlike public school which was free, my mother paid tuition for me to have a good education. Catholic education has become a huge part of my life for many years. It is the reason today why my faith is powerful. At my elementary and high school, we would pray three times a day, and we would address…

Before talking about my history, I have to say that my ancestral history is what prejudiced in my values as a good human being. I never thought how interesting it would be to visit a different place of worship besides Christianity. Since the day I was born I’ve been a Christian and whatever anyone else believes in is wrong and that they are going to hell if they don’t believe in Christianity. About 3 years ago I visited the International Buddhist Progress Society a Buddhist temple in Naperville. Buddhism from what I learned looks more like a way of life or guidelines to it rather than a religion. Buddhism tells you how you could live life better but doesn’t scare you with the prospect of hell instead you live with ignorance. My own history with Christianity still made me doubt or fear the conquences of going to this temple. Part of me believed that I be punished by…

Ever since that move to the new church I have respected God more and found a way to incorporate him in my everyday life. Religion has really made my life more exciting, fun, and happy. If I were given a choice of choosing to become a christian or not I think I would choose to continue to be a christian. Having christianity as my foundation in life has led me to make the absolute best choices for myself. It has helped me stay away from all the things that people my age are tempted with, and I’m okay with that.…

My educational goals can be said to be broken down into three parts that are really the means to my ends which is the fourth and most important goal. First, Im working on getting good grades in every class, I want to work on having and maintaining a high competitive GPA. My second goal is to get my Bachelors in Political Science in an ideal time frame of two more years. My third goal and one that is out of my hands, one may say, is getting a scholarship. I know there is a large amount of competitive students in the school, who are well deserving of scholarships but I need this scholarship to alleviate my parents from their stress and hard work to keep up with my payments. My education will never be complete. This knowledge affords me the ability to grow each and every day. It teaches me to question the world and to learn from these questions. I learn through different lenses and circumstances I experience each day. At seventeen, I am nowhere near complete. I am young. I am flawed. I am naïve. What I have learned has led me down different paths in order to achieve different milestones on my own journey. I am strong. I am creative. I am poised...but most importantly I am learning. My education has allowed me to learn about myself, about others, and about the world. I am evolving through the educational process and through the effort of acquiring knowledge. I have no idea what I will learn tomorrow --some days…

My MQP experience started at the beginning of 6th grade. I was unsure what to expect, as I came from public school. I was unsure as to whether I would make friends easily or not. I wondered if the teachers would be nice and if the students were nice. The reason I came to MQP was to improve my education and faith. It was a tough decision whether to go here for a better education or stick with my public school friends. I spent much time thinking of it, but finally decided I would need a better education in order to prepare for high school and beyond. In the end I am glad that I made the right decision.…
