Personal Narrative: My Education At Dakota
My education at Dakota has contributed immensely to who I am today. Without the faculty and community of Dakota, I would be a completely different person. The positive impact they have had on me will benefit me throughout my entire life. The teachers at Dakota have instilled in me a work ethic that will stick with me for the rest of my life. They pushed me to do challenging assignments and take on projects that I never thought I would be able to accomplish. While I may have hated it at the time, the amount of homework they gave me also pushed me to manage my time wisely and to become extremely organized in all aspects of my life, not just school. My education at Dakota has also given me a sense of pride in my school and community. Seeing the way that community members reach out to help students in any way they can have made me realize how supportive they are and how lucky I am to have grown up in an area such as ours. As the varsity cheerleading captain, it is my responsibility to show sportsmanship and school spirit whenever I am performing at games. However, I bring this pride in my school with me wherever I go; not just at games. If there is ever an improvement that I think could be made or something that could be changed to benefit Dakota, I am quick to bring it up. I take pride in our school grounds as well, always respecting the property and encouraging my peers to do as well. I was awarded a wonderful education at Windham High School, but beyond the information I retained, I also learned what is important in life. At first, I thought all that mattered was the clothes you wore, what makeup you had on, and who you were friends with. There is more to life than all that. I love helping others and my induction into the National Honor Society allowed me to do just that, especially in my four service projects I had the opportunity to lead and be a part of.
