Personal Narrative: My Experience As A Teaching Assistant

Humbled after being asked by my professor to become a Teaching Assistant for her Organic Chemistry course, I became responsible for aiding students with a subject many find challenging. I helped them solve problems during workshop hours, and organized and led additional group tutoring sessions. I listened to their questions and always strived to appropriately convey complex information. Working with each student, I recognized that they have different learning styles. By adjusting my approach for each one, we created a more productive learning environment and enhanced the retention of information.
