Personal Narrative: My Experience With Being On A Team
I have had multiple experiences with being on a team. I have learned a lot from them and I have offered them a lot of advice too. I am very skilled in working in teams as I have played with one for a long

After receiving all the growth opportunities from you and Tina were great because now I know where I need to improve on as a counselor. However, as I walked out of the counseling room and was finally able to absorb and sort through all the strengths and growth opportunities that was about my role as the group leader, it dawn to me how ineffective of a group leader I was. This gut punching feelings made me question whether or not this career path was suited for me. By not processing certain thoughts with members or challenging them was a disservice for them. I was so consume with this disgusted feeling that I sat in my car in the school parking lot for half an hour just sitting with my thoughts and feelings. I know that I am my worst critic…

My leadership experiences position around a distinct premise. I shall attempt to define that premise from my viewpoint. Under the direction and suggestion of my grade school Saint Margaret Mary, volunteering in our community was inspired. Although there were no opportunities to serve in leadership roles during this undertaking, I had always embraced leadership. As a son of a Marine, I grew up with a solid sense of duty and service, in addition to a first-hand knowledge of leadership qualities.…

My most significant experience in working as a part of team occurred when I was apart of the softball team. Without my teammates I wouldn’t have learned all that I know now about softball today. I was familiar with the softball players. We helped each other improve, whether it was with running, practicing drills, catching, or throwing. We never left a teammate behind. During practices we all ran as a team. During games we also chanted when the batter hit the ball. With out my team I wouldn’t have been as good as a softball player. So to me with teamwork come new friends and wonderful coaches.…

8:01 AM, I’ve got just enough time to finish the last question on my history homework before the first bell rings. I was weaving my way through the crowd on my way to the library when my friend Josh interrupted my plan. He dragged me over to him saying, “Ty! Ty! I’ve got to tell you something.” Josh explained that he wanted me to join the Baseball team because of the new coach that signed up for the job. Immediately I interrupted saying, “There is a new coach?”. Josh explained that the coach was from a team that went to the state championship a couple years back. He thinks the new coach really going to really help me if I join, because I was not the “best” player last year. “Bzzzzzz” the bell was ringing for class. As I was walking toward first…

One extremely important activity outside of the classroom that has helped me grow as an individual is Church League basketball at my local YMCA. From the outside looking in this league seems to be a form of glorified pick-up basketball with referees and a scoreboard but there is so much more to it. Almost half way through my junior year my father convinced me to try out for the varsity basketball team at school in November to which I hesitated at first but later gave in and tried out only to be cut. At first I was upset because I had never been cut from a team and I was unsure of how to handle it and what to do with my free time. This prompted me to reach out to God and ask him for a sense of direction and purpose in this time of my life to which He responded with a friend inviting me to Church League basketball. Once I experienced a few scrimmages and practices I decided to commit to playing Church League and coming to all of the…

This week reminded me how amazing and important my job is. Friday was a busy day at the office; I was rushing to finish my work so I could leave on time. As I was about to leave I received a phone call from a hiring manager (Mark) with NOAA. Mark had questions about the interview process and was calling to speak to one of my colleagues. Unfortunately, my colleague was on vacation and wouldn’t be back for another week. I looked at the clock and realized it was time to go but I could hear the frustration in Mark’s voice. Instead of leaving, I spent almost an hour listening to Mark’s concerns, answering his questions, and I explained how the federal hiring process works. At the end of our conversation, Mark thanked me for my time and he told me…

I have experienced teamwork in a multitude of ways. I have been the leader of a group whether it is just being “the voice” for a school group, overseeing employees at work, and even leading my high school soccer team as the captain. I also understand playing smaller roles like when working on a project in school and someone is more knowledgeable than I am, I will let them take the leading role or even when I played basketball and came off the bench I understood that my job was not to be the…

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

I held my breath to avoid the harsh taste that lodges deep into my lungs from the bus exhaustion. I walked onto the cold mustard colored bus and saw my friend Anna sitting on the rough piece of plastic they call a seat. She sat arms crossed shivering to the negative two degree wind chill, the only thing keeping her warm was a red ball of yarn that rested on top of a black woven beanie. I waved hello and sat adjacent to her to avert the temptation of…
